This is a spinoff of a couple other topics. Just want to take out any bias of peoples home resorts, but still keep it positive.

What is your favorite non-home DVC resort, & why?

I want everyone to choose a non-home resort and give me a number of reasons why you like it. Visiting a resort counts as well if you have only stayed at your home resort.

OKW. We love the "hominess" feel rather than the hotel feel; the restfulness-so close to the hustle-bustle but feels like a million miles away; and those balconies are perfect! I like the fact that the villas are the largest, but what I love the most is the balconies-where else do you have a full-size table with seating for 4? Overhead ceiling fans? And each balcony seems more private than at the other resorts we've been to. Only one more thing would make those balconies perfect-let's have rocking chairs just like on the balconies at HH.

Saratoga Springs.

I love the decor of the rooms. The workdesk in the master bedroom is awesome. I also like having a separate room for the toilet. I also like the dark wood furnishings. The sleeper sofa is also much better than the other DVC resorts. I also liked the carriage house with the rec room (Turf Club?) in the back. I think that once SSR is complete, it will be positively awesome. The exterior of the buildings and the grounds are quite impressive. I love the "town" feeling you have as you are driving through.

We like the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. The strong theming really grabs our attention. (Our home resort is BCV and while it remains our favorite due to SAB and the short walk to Epcot, we are from the New England shoreline; the BCV theming is really not a dramatic change from "local" resorts).

Some other reasons we like VWL: proximity to MK and the monorail, boat to MK rather than bus, the wonderful "public" rooms of the villas building, which somehow seem more cozy to us.

OKW - we love the space. We've stayed there more than our home resorts (BWV & VWL)

I guess it would have to be SSR since we already own points at OKW, BCV and VWL. We don't really care for BWV. We've stayed at VB for a couple of days (that's all we really need there), and haven't stayed at HH.

Hmmm, I guess it would probably be BCV. We love the proximity to Epcot, the kids love SAB, we all love Beaches & Cream. I really like the decor and have never had a bad room. My only problem wiht it is the bus transportation, but from now on we will always have a rental car or have driven when we stay there.

A close second would have to be Vero Beach. The resort is absolutely beautiful. I really didn't think I would like spending much time there, only did it to satisfy the kids, and I loved it. It is so nice and relaxing and there are so many activities to keep the kids occupied.

OKW; we own at BWV, VWL & BCV. Love OKW for the space & laid-back atmosphere. It makes it really easy to just kick back and relax.

As others have stated, the balconies at OKW are the best. I'm an early riser & love sitting out on my balcony @ OKW with my morning coffee just watching nature. It's hard to get much more peaceful than that!

:jumping1:

I love OKW!! I love the rooms and decor and I like to feel like I'm in Florida. Its peaceful and I like parking my car out side my room. My home resort is VWL and truthfully I don't care for it much. I think the rooms are to dark and I live up north so I can do with out the woods and rustic feel of VWL. Give me PALM TREES!!!!!!!!!

Any of the All Stars and Coronado would be my families favourite resorts. We have never been to our home DVC resort and our favourite non home would be BWV but we still love the others mentioned first over OKW VWL and BCV.

VB. Very much like OKW, but at the beach! Very relaxing and wonderful CMs.

If non DVC then it would be AKL, Poly and GC at DL. Great theming, interesting places. Concierge level service is superb.

OKW. The trip that we bought in to DVC was the one trip that we couldn't fly home on our scheduled departure day because of a large snowstorm at home. We needed a place to stay for a night and opted to exercise our rights as new DVC members and got a one night stay at OKW. Because of that, although our home resort is VWL , OKW just feels like "Welcome Home".

Up to now, I have only stayed at one other non-home resort: OKW. I loved it--the rooms are huge, loved parking out front, really loved the laid back feel to the place.

We're trying VWL in January so I may have to change my opinion.

We LOVE HHI! Lovely grounds, great activities, fab CM's.... a real vacation!

Our favorite and most enjoyable and BESTEST EVER (LOL) is definitely WILDERNESS LODGE VILLAS.

Everything is within a minute or two of walking and just awesome.

OKW is good but I hate unpacking my own car. I like the Valet to do that for me. So - I'm lazy that way.

I LOVE VWL!!! I love the outdoorsy-ness (I just made up a new word!!!) of it. But, I do still love my "home" resort -- BWV.

But, maybe I should hold my vote until 4 weeks from now when we'll be trying out SSR!!!

let us know about SSR - kim - I think it might be at the BOTTOM - further than bottom - of your list. no kidding - too far to walk to anything you want - and just not the same as the others. I was SO VERY DISAPPOINTED when we stayed there last month and have heard the same from many others:mad:
VWL is absolutely the best

We're BWV owners are really like it. But if we had to go somewhere else OKW is our first choice. We love the nice quiet atomsphere away from the hustle and bustle.

I would have to say VWL. I did not think I would like this place, but I fell in love with the whole theme. Even though the lobby is huge it still felt homey and cozy. This was the last place DH and I stayed before he passed away so it will allways have a special place in my heart. DH enjoyed the walking trails and the huge fireplace. I enjoyed watching the families gather around the fireplace. It's also a very romantic cozy atmosphere. The pool is nice and the geyser is a great added touch. The boat ride to the MK is also pretty nice. The theming in the rooms are top notch. Susan
