What is your Favorite Movie Memory?

It doesn't have to be your favorite movie, just the movie that is associated with a fond memory.

Mine would have to be The Little Mermaid. I remember seeing this movie with my father in the theater, when it opened in '89. I had to be carried out of the theater at the end, because I was absolutely bawling. I just could not understand why King Triton couldn't turn Eric into a merman, so Ariel could stay with "her daddy."

I was 7 at the time, but it has remained my favorite through the years. Every time I see a glimpse of it on tv, or even in a store sitting on the shelf, I am reminded of the fond memories I had seeing it with my father. I am a "Daddy's girl," can't you tell?

I had several copies of it on VHS, which were quickly worn out, because every time I would go to a friend or relative's house, I would bring the VHS to watch. When I meet up with old friends and family, they always mention The Little Mermaid, which makes both of us smile. It's funny what one little movie can do, and how it can bring a smile to so many people for such different reasons.

My favorite would have to be going to see Gone with the Wind when I was just a preteen. My mom and my aunt dropped me at a theatre by myself to watch the movie, which was a big deal and they went shopping. The movie was about 4 hours long because they had a 20 minute intermission. I guess I just got so fascinated with that movie because I was there by myself with nobody to distract me during the show. Over the years I must have seen that movie dozens of times and I can't even remember how many times I have read the book. Funny thing though, when I first saw the movie, I thought Ashley was IT, but it wasn't very long before I was ALL about that Rhett Butler! Yes sir! :thumbsup2

John Woo HK action-comedy movie "Once a Thief"....basically his slow-motion style in drama scene is very emotional. I watched it many times.

The first movie I remember going to was Sword in the Stone. (Yes, I'm a dinasour!) My grandfather took my brother and I. I don't remember a thing about the movie, but I remember standing in the ticket line w/ my grandfather and being so excited to get to go to the movies.

My favorite movie memory stems from when my mom took me to see Snow White. I was two at the time and it was my first visit to a cinema. I still remember sitting on the right side of the cinema and eating ju-ju-bees (sp?). I liked the movie overall, but was a bit impatient for it to end. Shortly after Snow White, the cinema was transformed into a XXX theatre and it made me feel bad that no more Disney films would be shown there. Of course, now that Cinderella is Playmate of the Year, Disney may be back in business at that cinema!

My favorite movie scene would have to be from Lady and the Tramp when they are eating the spaghetti! It must have been in the mid-1950's - now how's that for being a dinosaur???

I have two -

The first was when I got to go see Poltergeist with my Dad, after my parents had an argument over if I was old enough to see it. :rotfl: I think the fact that my Dad stood up for me being old enough made the movie all that much better.

The other is taking my son to his first movie, which was Madagascar, about a year ago or so. He was just so thrilled about it, it could have been the most awful movie and he was just fascinated.

I have two favorite movie memories:

The first and earliest is seeing the re-release of Song Of The South back in the late '70's or very early 80's (?) with my grandparents

The second is The Little Mermaid on its opening weekend, it was my first date with the man who is now my husband, lol!

First was in 1974, me (22), my sisters (26 & 27) and my mom (56) going to the drive-in to see Blazing Saddles, all of us laughing hysterically through the movie...

Second was around 1985, my partner (38) and I (33) exposing a 20 year old friend to classic screwball comedies, Bringing Up Baby and Topper Returns...

Both occasions wound up creating new fans of wacky humor...

I just watched Dirty Dancing again, again, again, on VHS with SIL. We LOVE it soooooo much, that I just went and bought it on DVD to see all the extras. Now we both can't waite :hourglass .

One of my favorite movie memories is going to see The Lion King in the movie theatre. I was just wowed from the very first scene and on the edge of my seat through all the fight scenes.

I also remember going to see Armageddon with DH (who was DBF at the time) after my brother had gone over July 4th weekend to see it. DBrother said it was one of the most awesome movies he'd ever seen, so DH took me to see it. I bawled my eyes out at the end, when they did the jet fly-over in missing man formation. DH didn't know what it was and I had to explain it to him. *sniffle* That part still brings me to tears.
