I know this is techinally a mini-series but I love "Roots". That movie really moved me and made me cry.

I loved loved loved the North and South mini series and also The Stand.

My favorite TV movie is The Jericho Mile starring Peter Strauss and Centennial for a mini series.

I can tell I'm getting old, I think both of those were made in 1978-1979.

No contest when it comes to made for TV movies. It has to be the original Brian's Song. Even though it looks dated, it still has such an impact on me.

:goodvibes I loved Centennial, too! And... it's OK to be getting old. Sure beats the alternative! ;)

In a Child's Name with Valerie Bertinelli and... Christopher Meloni. It's not like it's the best movie, but every time it's on I end up watching it.

It's a tie between The Thorn Birds and Pride and Prejudice (the A&E Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehrle one). I'm completely obsessed with both of them. And they happen to be 2 of my favorite books as well!

I still watch this one when it is on Lifetime. I used to love TV movies/mini series. Pretty much anything with Valerie Bertinelli sucked me in. Fatal Vision was another of my favorites.

Fatal Vision is a great one.

I watch Small Sacrifices whenever its on. Farrah Fawcett was great in that role.

Small Sacrifices is another good one. I read the book after seeing the mini-series. There used to be so many good ones on. They just don't make them like they used to.

YEARS AGO but OH how I love it!
Jane Seymore and Anthony Edwards (the British one, not the one from ER) in...
"The Scarlet Pimpernell"
It was fabulous!! :cloud9:

"Shogun" is one of our favorites. Also, the "Count of Monte Cristo" with Richard Chamberlain, but also the one with Gerard Depardieu.
would "The Six Wives of Henry the 8th", "Elizabeth R"; "I, Claudius"
or the entire "Blackadder" qualify? If we have to vote for just one "Blackadder" the household will go for the first. "Roots" is stunnin

I forgot about Small Sacrifices. I watch it everytime it comes on. When I hear Hungry Like The Wolf I think of the movie.

Another movie I like is Cruel Doubt with Blythe Danner. Another true story.

Anthony Andrews. He was also in Brideshead Revisited. He's fabulous. I agree, this was a great movie.

I also love Lonesome Dove.

Well as long as others have listed mini series :teeth:

Shogun
The Six Wives of Henry the 8th
The Thorn Birds
Sybil
Threads
Roots
Holocaust
3 Sovereigns for Sarah
Testament
Taken

And, no surprise here, but the best thing ever made for TV...

I, Claudius!!!

Brian's Song here, too. I can't even listen to the music without misting up.

I liked North and South.

And not that they are the best thing on tv--I'm fascinated by all the plane crash stories--real or fiction.

I have to go with the afterschool special of She Cried No with Mark Paul Gossler and Candace Cameron. We watched it in religion (of all classes) in hs and still, over 7 years later, can quote lines from that movie
