My favorite is Remember the Titans.

Now that it is football season, I'd like to watch some others since DS has games on Sundays and we like to take it easy the night before a game. We watched Rudy tonight. I think I will have to go buy Radio. What are your favorites? What are they about? Thanks.

Remember the Titans. Hands down.

Brian's Song. I've never seen Rudy, it was filmed by where I live & a few people I worked with did hair for it.

Brian's Song but be prepared to cry! I also liked The Longest Yard with Burt Reynolds. I was a big fan of his for a while, lol.

What are Varsity Blues and Water Boy about? Are they suitable for preteen viewing? Does anyone know the name of the one that came out 1-3 years ago that had the word Sunday in the title?

Here is a synopsis of the plot of Varsity Blues from Rotten Tomatoes.com.
Jon "Mox" Moxon (James Van Der Beek, TV's DAWSON'S CREEK) is the second string quarterback of the Coyotes of West Canaan, Texas. When the star quarterback (Paul Walker) suffers a knee injury just as the team is about to win their 23rd championship in 30 years, Mox is in the hot seat. Mox, however, is more interested in getting accepted to Brown, a view which is at odds with that of the pigskin-crazy town as well as that of militaristic Coach Kilmer (Jon Voight). But when Mox becomes a town hero for his football prowess, will his sights be swayed from his academic pursuits? This surprise hit from MTV Pictures was directed by Brian Robbins (HARDBALL).

It's rated R and has some scenes I wouldn't feel comfortable showing to pre-teens (the whipped cream bikini scene comes to mind).

The Waterboy is with Adam Sandler. Definitely a comedy and not a serious drama but fun.
Adam Sandler is charming and disarming as he dusts off and mashes together his beloved SNL charcters Cajun Man and Canteen Boy to create Bobby Boucher, the sweet-tempered, simple-minded, bayou man-child who relishes his job of eighteen years as the much-abused waterboy for the local "good" (well-funded but nasty of spirit) university's football team. True to the appropriate cine-formula, there is also a nearby "bad" (under-funded but generous of spirit) university where Bobby seeks tenure after finally being driven away from his long-time place of employment by the relentless cruelty of those whom he seeks only to refresh and hydrate. It is under the kindly tutelage of the "lesser" university's down-and-out football coach (Henry Winkler phones it in, but warmly) that Bobby realizes his unusual athletic prowess and develops some basic people skills. Kathy Bates has an enormous amount of fun, and is a laugh riot, as Bobby's earthy, over-protective, swamp-shack-dwelling mom; and Fairuza Balk is accessibly luscious in a Daisy Mae turn as Bobby's resourceful, tomboyish, creole-cutie sweetheart. Deadpan delivery, satisfying sight gags, and "elbow-your-neighbor-and-point-at-the-screen" cameos make this an attractive option for fans of the genre.
Rated PG-13.

RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!

Very uplifting movie based on a true story and Sean Astin gave a wonderful performance.

I believe you're thinking of Any Given Sunday, although I've never seen it so I can't tell you anything about it. :D

Another vote for Rudy :D

edited to add... I don't know how many of you Rudy fans have the DVD, but if you don't, get it! It had an interesting interview with the real Rudy. Turns out that besides all the other things he had to overcome to achieve his dreams, he was dyslexic as well. Back then they didn't realize what it was.

Any given sunday is definately not for kid safe viewing

There was another football movie out about the same time, the replacements or something similar. That was much better.

My favorite football movie was North Dallas 40 but looking forward to seeing Friday Night Lights.

I don't consider Remember the Titans a real Football movie. Way to much message and only used football as a vehicle for the message. Thats not to say I don't love the movie and have it on DVD, its just not much of a football movie.
