What is wrong with people?

A husband was arrested because he left his disabled wife laying on the floor of their living room since May! She was literally stuck to the carpet and had bed sores with exposed bone and maggot infestations. She only weighed 65 lbs! His excuse? She didn't like to go to doctors, so he didn't do anything for her! I am continuous amazed at what people do to others, especially their loved ones.

It's just so sad. It is considered elder abuse because she has been in a wheelchair for 10 years and has to rely on him to help take care of her. I think what got me the most was that there was no air conditioning in the house, but plenty of beer! Her husband turned himself in today. I hope he gets the maximum sentence - which is 15 years, I believe.

That's nothing....I worked on a case where a husband broke his wife's neck, then told her she was lying about not being able to move and drug her around the house for 2 hrs then left her lying there for 4 more hours before a neighbor called the police.

He's in jail for a loooooooong time.

You know C.Ann I was just thinking the same thing. I have a hard time with them only charging him with one count of elder abuse. I believe the should charge him with AT LEAST aggervated assault and attempted murder. This poor woman was unable to get up on her own. She was suffering from dehydration and was malnurished, open wounds and maggots and is currently in ICU. How could a husband watch his wife suffer like that? Was he stepping OVER her to move around his house? Pure evil if you ask me.

Too often justice is evasive in this country. We just had a guy sentenced to only five years here in the shooting death of another. The guy was shot ten times, so is was no accident, either.

While I don't quite condone it, sometimes "street" justice can more effective and even more appropriate.

Well, it's pretty appalling, but even more so is the realization that evidently no on else played a role in this woman's life who was checking on her.

It's a frightening commentary on the state of our society. In any community, you couldn't treat a dog like that and get away with it, nor should you.

Had the victum actually been an elder, I might have understood the circumstances better. Being the primary caregiver to an aged and infirmed mom, (since I won't put her in a facility), stories like these and others make me realize that if you can't or don't vote, the politicians don't listen.
