What is wrong with me????

It's hard when you're making a switch for the first time. We stayed at POP a couple of times before we tried POFQ. We were thrilled with the switch!!! I think you made the right choice and will love it. I think you'll find the extra money you spent well worth it! Now, relax and get excited about that upgrade.

I love POP too. We have stayed there several times and love it. However, last year I wanted a change and got a great deal on Wilderness Lodge which I love as well except for the small, crowded food court. This year I wanted to try something different so I booked a Royal Guest room in POR. It's good to see what else Disney has to offer. You might find you like it too. Have fun!

Thank you all so much! Its so funny when my DH says all of the same stuff I dont believe him but you guys say it and it makes me feel good about my choice!:lmao: I guess its cause you guys come from the disney obessed world that I belong to and DH does not lol! I have always said I wanted to stay at all the resorts on property so I guess now is the time! We have been to POFQ and loved it but it was only for 2 nights and it was five yrs ago and no kids. So I just need to get over the extra $368 its costing and enjoy the change! Im glad Im not alone!!!!

POR has been our favorite resort so far. Of course, we have only stayed at ASSP, SOG and one night at AKL, besides POR. The food court is great, the pool is fun and I think the grounds are so pretty. Lots of shade around the pool deck too so you aren't roasting in the sun while the kids swim like at the values. Shaded bus stops are nicer too.

While I won't say I couldn't go back to a value again, I do find the moderates worth the increase in price. Fans, fridges and coffee I don't have to dress to go fetch! Our last 2 trips were 10 days so we wanted to stay somewhere with a little more resort stuff to offer. For a shorter trip where we'd be in the parks open to close I'd consider a value again......maybe........if I didn't have a discount.

But I understand the whole comfort zone place. I was really looking forward to the next time we'd stay at POR and getting a nice fresh redone room. Wasn't planning to go this year until last week. All I could get with the discount offered was CBR standard.......so we're taking a new adventure this year too. Maybe we'll love it more....maybe we don't. But in the end we'll still make the best time of it we can because despite where we sleep we're still at WDW.

ps even my 9 yr old son said he wants a change from POP of course he was refering to AoA or ASmo at the time. He siad he would rather go to POR than POP so I guess POR it is! I just want to enjoy it as much as POP well more actually since its costing more!

It's so funny how we get attatched to a resort. I have stayed at CBR, CSR, POFQ, AKL, WL and after each one (save for WL) I have thought..."ooh, this one is my favorite" and then when I plan a new trip and try a new resort I am afraid I won't like it.

I have yet to stay at a Disney resort I disliked.

Next trip's new resorts are POP and Boardwalk! :yay:

We went from Pop with the QSDP and had the WP&M option. To POR with RDP dropped the WP&M option and got a royal room. It is costing us almost 1000.00 more so I feel your pain. We are also happy with Pop.

But we like you feel like we need more room and queen beds seem to be big on the priority list. We also feel like we will use the resort amenities since we are going for 11 days.. We will probably spend 3 pool/ DTD days.

Im so glad Im not alone! I know once we are there the $368 wont be on my mind! I know that POR is probably amazing and I will most likely fall in love! Until then I need to keep reading all of these post about how great POR is and try to ignore the extra cost! Its going to be awesome Im sure! Reading all of these posts are really getting me very excited though!

My sons were 10 and 11 the last 2 visits to POR. They were very happy with our 2 previous stays at SOG and ASSP, then we got the trip to POR. They forgot all about the others and their plain pools. POR has a slide! and little waterfalls. OK, so it's not water park cool.......but the boys loved it. They also liked the fact they could sit in the hot tub at POR. We have one at home, but their so used to being "too young" to be in them at other places like the local rec center.

We chose the Mansion section our first stay. Actually, the boys picked it. Wanted to stay there to feel rich. LOL The second stay I asked for Alligator Bayou. I actually liked the rustic look better. The rooms are being (are done?) rehabbed now, but the AB section has a 5th person little bed. My kids took turns being the one who got his own bed every other night. Very nice if you have 2 younger kids who don't share a bed well. My kids are horrible movers when they sleep and I hate sharing with either of them too!

The game room is right off the lobby, as is the River Roost. So I gave each of my kids a few bucks worth of credits and turned them loose in there, while my mom and I went for a drink and to watch a little of the YeeHaw Bob show. Kids could find us easily when they were done as the lounge is right off the hallway next to the gift shop. We got to relax, they got video game time. Win-win! They also sat through a bit of the show. It's corny......but thought it was funny. They still like to sing the "Sarah" song.

Lay your worries to rest:goodvibes You will absolutely love POR. It is a quieter resort than Pop Century. Lots of beautiful landscaping, the river, A large food court and restaurant. The kids will love the water wheel, pole fishing. Swimming in the ole swimming hole and being able to use the pool at POFQ and the boat to Downtown Disney. Everytime we came back from the parks and walked into the lobby or store it had such a happy feeling and yes, you can smell the food cooking!!!!! Plenty of seating to eat. I especially loved the Mansion side.

:cheer2:We have stayed at Carribean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Villas, Beach Club Villas, Animal Kingdom Jambo and Kidani, Pop Century, All Stars Movies, Music and Sports. We have stayed multiple times at everyone of them. Port Orleans is a favorite of mine and my family!!

Julluvsdisney, We are making our way around to all the resorts. : ) We have been dvc members for the last six years so we have tried even more resorts.

There is truly something special about each resort for us.

Port Orleans is the resort we took our daughter to for the first time:lovestruc I have many fond memories walking the paths with her stroller. Swimming in both of the pools. Hanging in the hot tub. Walking over to get my mug filled with hot chocolate at night (adding creamers makes it yummy). The pool area has some shaded areas where my daughter and I would relax and read a book. Comparing: Pop's food court is always loud and bustling, Port Orleans doesn't seem as loud even when crowded. The pool at Pop is fun but at POR having the slide and hot tub is great:woohoo:and you also get to use the Serpent pool at POFQ and my daughter loved that slide! There is also a restaurant if you'd like a sit down meal. There is a piano singer that sings and makes jokes and its fun to stop and listen for a while....they don't have that at Pop. The Sassagoula River is so nice to just hang around and watch or pole fish..Kids will get a kick out of the giant water wheel. There are quiet pools and the laundry is right there so if you don't want the feature pool its a nice break.. You will be so happy that you tried it. Also the room is a little larger. You get queen beds instead of full. If you get a corner room I love the extra window and it lets more light in the room. This is a quieter resort than Pop. Everything echos there. haha. I think the landscaping absorbs some of the sound. The resort looks large but its easy to get around. We love the Mansion rooms!!:thumbsup2 Visit the Resort link and you'll enjoy all of the pictures of the grounds and the rooms before you go!! :dance3: Any question pm me! I subscribed to the link so I will also see it that way.

Lastly, people tend to return to what they know me included. Its good to try new things and you'll love it!!! You are so close to Magic Kingdom so this is a bonus also!

We stayed at POP the last two years, and are switching to POR this year. Don't worry, you'll love it! On our way back from our cruise in Jan, my wife and I (and our friends) had a little extra time before our flight back to MI, so we stopped by POR to see if we would like it. Oh yeah, REALLY looking forward to it now after seeing it.

It's kind of funny, our kids weren't with us so I felt kind of bad seeing it for the first time without them, so I tried to do quick glances of stuff to get the flavor of the resort without getting too into it. I can't wait to REALLY check it out this Sept. What we did see walking around the grounds and in some of the main buildings got us very excited.

Off topic, but can you tell me how the size of POP compares to the size of POFQ in terms of resort grounds?

Thanks.

I thought the grounds of POR seemed bigger than POP - oops sorry misread - I haven't stayed at POFQ - but POFQ would be closer in size - a guess would be that POP is bigger than POFQ but others may want to chime in!

I love trying all the resorts!!! I just finished a stay at POP and loved it - but I think there are so many things about POR to enjoy - the boat ride to DTD is terrific - the food court is the best I've tried so far (yes I thought it was better than POP though sadly no tie dye cheesecake) - and the whole resort has a very calming ambiance IMO! Plus it has been newly renovated!

Enjoy yourselves!!
