What is wrong w/ Olivia's?

I've been reading lots of posts about the quality of food at Olivia's going down. I'm a little worried, as I will be there in June with my extended family. Anyway, what is the scoop? Is there pre-plated meals warmed in the microwave or just overall bad stuff?

Thanks!

I actually love Olivia's! The bread for dinner is absolutely amazing. Their soup is delicious and so are the sandwiches for lunch. I usually eat the pasta with shrimp, spinich, and asiago cheese for dinner. I have no complaints, but the restaurant food has changed lately in the past year. If you have never been there before then you probably won't have any complaints.

Thanks for the quick reply! We've been there many times, that is why I am worried. I don't want to be disappointed!!

I don't know so much that anything is "wrong" with Olivia's other than some menu changes.......not for the better. We had lunch there in October and the food was excellent, however, they have had quite a few menu changes and gone to a more generic menu.....same as a lot of other WDW restaurants. I just read another thread yesterday which stated even the servers at Olivia's are not happy with the changes. Hopefully, the restaurant "powers that be" at WDW are following the changes and realize everything is not good. I also read on the boards that some of the menu changes in the children's menus at various restaurants that previously had taken place are again being changed......this time for the better.....so there is hope!!!!

I agree with the above statement. Breakfast at Olivia's is still great, with minor menu changes (no more steak & eggs, its a chicken-fried steak type thing now) But the basic two egg breakfast (formerly the beachcomber) breakfast is the same. They still have their grits, fruit, potatoes, etc.

The lunch and dinner menus have lost some old favorites, like the buttermilk chicken and their signature key lime honey mustard salad dressing. It is now a pretty standard, more generic standardized menu, similar to many other Disney restaurants.

We ate there this year, the week after Thanksgiving.

This was the first time we had eaten there, so we had nothing to compare.
The food was good to us, and I didn't see any problems with the cleanliness of the place.

I have noticed the standardization of the menus around the world, and I would like more of a change.:coffee:

We're disappointed that there's less variety and thought the servings were smaller the one time we ate there in November (usually we eat there at least twice). But, we've also felt the same disappointment with the decrease in variety at some of the other resteraunts.

I recently posted regarding the menu changes. The quality and atmosphere have always been great (for us). It's just that some of our favorites are now gone. :guilty:

I wouldn't say the food is bad, it's just nothing to write home about. ....I just think they could do so much better there because they don't have the volume of the parks or anything like that and they could definetly take it up a notch. DH and I worked in culinary for years so yeah we're a little particular about food, but quite frankly we just like good down to earth food (not fancy like V&A or anything) and we both thought that Olivia's was lacking.

Edited to say that Olivia's DOES have the best most delicious scrumptious Key Lime Pie that I've ever tried :cloud9:

True, the menu is a bit different, but still good food and well served.

We ate there about 18 months ago while staying at OKW for the first time and while it was OK and there was nothing specifically wrong with our meal, it certainly wasn't worth the $70+ it cost for two adult entrees, two kids meals, and two desserts, plus soda/tea, compared to what we can get for that same price at so many other great restaurants around WDW. I found myself wishing we had just popped in a frozen pizza to the oven in our villa!
I really liked OKW overall, but Olivia's didn't seem as well themed as many of the other restaurants co-located with the resorts. JMO.
