We're old farts...9:30 is the new 2am.

Gotcha. I haven't quite reached old fart status yet but 9:30 sounds pretty reasonable to me. By the time I get the kids in bed at 9 I just want to lay on the couch until bedtime.

W8, are you posting your **** again? Keep it covered, sistah!

Wow, tuneswife, you are brand new to the DIS, aren't you? Are you addicted yet?

Yup, brand new, and yes, very addicted. I have been on here for about 10.5 hours today just on this thread. I started at page 1 and worked my way to present.

Well, currently I work from home and hate my job and I'm protesting because my paycheck from 2 weeks ago will not cash at their branch. I was due to be paid again on Friday (when the last check still isn't any good) but they have made an executive decision to change the pay day from this Friday to next Wednesday. So right now what I needed was a little comic relief. The 77 pages worth of this thread was just what I needed. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day in tears trying to figure out whether I should quit my job before my plan to open my own business comes to fruition or if I should just stick it out so that if they Do go bankrupt before I am self-employed then I can at least collect unemployment. Any advice on how to remain sane when you don't know if you can pay your upcoming bills? To top it all off, we leave for WDW in 5 weeks which while we are all excited, it's a bit stressful knowing you may not have a job to pay you vacation pay while you're gone.

Yikes, Tunie!! That is scary. What kind of two-bit operation are you working for? I hope they don't hose you out of your money. :grouphug:

With w8 cranking the spit. :scared1:

Well, up until recently it has been a great job. I worked in their local office and when my mom died and my nanny moved 4 years ago the owner agreed to let me work from home so I could be with my kids. But, times have been tough, bills have piled up and irresponsible money management has caused major major problems. I try to be supportive and understanding but I have bills to pay and I am not irresponsible and I can't call my mortgage company and say, Hey, my paycheck bounced so can I pay you next month or the month after that?

I am not "in debt". I booked WDW in June while all was well with work and life and everything else. My solution to the job issue is that I am opening up my own company but I have to have licensing to do what I am going to do and that requires a test for one of my partners to take. The test isn't for 2 more weeks and then we have to wait a week for the results so it's just a matter of timing.

Are you starting to look for new employment?

I am opening my own company, see above post for details...

Are you going to stick it out while you wait for your licensing to go through?

I need to find a new job myself. This job is new for me (we are new to the area) but it SUCKS, and people are quitting right and left. When you aren't happy at work, you just aren't happy.

I nearly quit yesterday but hubby talked me down off the ledge and convinced me that even if it's not "dependable income" I need to stay employeed until I have all my financing and licensing lined up. So yes, I suppose I am going to stay until then. The thing is, if I had to go find something else I would not be able to do it from home and I have to be able to do it from home because I have been home with my kids now for 4 years and I'm sorry but there is nothing on earth that would make me give that up now.

You're right, when you aren't happy, you aren't happy. What do you do?

I understand the dilemma. Good luck, I hope the company stays afloat so you can get paid in a timely fashion. :grouphug:

Where are you staying on your WDW trip?
