What is Whispering Canyon?

I was just looking at the pictures of food thread and saw the awesome food. I have NO idea where this restaurant is! Also is it included in the dining plan? Thanks for any info!

WC is one of my favorites...it's in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge and YEP it's included in dining plan (1 table service). I like to go on a Magic Kingdom day. It's a nice leisurely boat ride across to the lodge and back and it gives you a nice park break. Lots of fun! You'll find lots of people on the boards with comments about the place. Plus you can check it out on allearsnet.com too to see the whole menu and more pics. I've always found the food quite good (can you say UNLIMITED milkshakes!) and the antics fun too.

Whispering Canyon is in Wilderness Lodge. It is covered under the meal plan.

It's a lot of fun, but when we went, the food was pretty bad. They give you a ton of it, but the meat was dry and the pasta under-cooked.

That said, though, the antics are reason enough that we'd probably go back sometime, just for the fun of it.

DH and I always go for breakfast...they have an incredible buffet-type style that they serve at your table. It is our favorite breakfast places in WDW. Remember...don't ask for the ketchup though!!

We have eaten in a lot of restaraunts throughout the WDW resort and we had the most fun at this place. The waiters had us laughing the whole time and our food was awesome !!! The kids were entertained and the most well behaved they ever are in a restaraunt.

I am TOTALLY having one of the kids ask for ketchup! I saw pictures of that. What other kinds of antics are there? My kids will love this place I think. Do I need priority seating?

You know I thought I knew all there was to know about Disney and yet here I am learning something new!

Sometimes they give all the kids in the restaurnat little "horses" (sticks with horses heads on them) that they all ride around the place while the servers sing!! Also, the servers are always yelling and shouting funny things to each other. The atmosphere is great!

When we were there for breakfast one of the waiters brought out a whole box of ketchup and one lady asked for milk and he brought her the whole gallon with a straw in it. One other thing was, when were there for dinner, a waiter was serving his table dessert and he came out with chocolate pudding all over his face, like he had eaten there dessert.

When we were there, a guy at another table asked for a bread plate and the server announced to everyone that "this here fancy-schmancy gennaman thinks he needs a bread plate!", and had everyone in the restaurant wag a finger at him and say "hey buddy, this ain't the Grand Floridian!"

Then, they had all the dads get up and do the "buttercup dance", a shall-we-say less than manly dance, which was also a hoot to watch.

I'm one of the ones who highly recommended WC in one of the previous posts, but I also want to offer one word of caution...
None of the "antics" are completely standard...depends on the waiter and their mood at the time, so don't go EXPECTING all of the different things that everyone talks about. The stick horse races are pretty standard, but as far as all the other stuff, though LIKELY, nothing is guaranteed. If I were you, I wouldn't tell any of your kids or whoever you're traveling with what to expect, then whatever happens will be EXTRA fun!
Hope this isn't a "downer" to you, but don't want to overbuild your expectations either!

No I totally understand. I did tell dh that we have to ask for ketchup and that hopefully my *darlings* will charm them and they will give us a good time! But I agree when you go expecting something that is not guaranteed you end up disappointed. My main goal is the glorious food so all the xtra is great!
