I have seen lots of people talking about this and I'm guessing it is Walk off the Pounds. But, what is it? A dvd? Do you walk around in your house or what? Sounds like everyone likes it and it may be something I want to try.

Thanks for any info.

WATP = Walk Away The Pounds.

It is a video tape (or DVD) of exercises/motion that simulates eitehr a 1-mile, 2-mile, 3-mile, or 4-mile walk depending on the tape you use. You don't actually *walk* but you do marching, small kicks, knee lifts, etc.,--exertion that would simulate the same exertion of a comparable walk. It is low-to-no impact and barely requires any coordination.

When I was first starting to work out, I really liked it. But, I quickly moved through it and don't find it strenuos enough. I will occassionaly do one on a rainy day.

I think it is a perfect tape to start with if you a very overweight or have not exercised in a long time. If you are already doing other tapes and workouts, it will probably not be enough for you--with the exception of the 4-mile walk.

IMO, these tapes(or DVDs) are GREAT for any level! Yes, I'm beyond the 1 mile tape. I mostly do the 2 mile & 3 mile tapes now. I combine the 2 mile tape with a Firm Up tape, also by Leslie Sansone. She also has tapes for Abs, walk/jog, and as I mentioned, firming. I use the 3 mile when I'm not using anything else. She also adds weights/resistance/belts to these tapes, and they increase the upper body work out you get when doing the tapes. I have done the 4 mile tape only a couple of times, after several consecutive days of doing 2-3 miles. You need to work up to that tape. ;)

To say it's perfect only for the "very overweight", or "not exercised in a long time", is not giving the tapes their credit, imo. I've lost 49 lbs thanks to WW AND the WATP tapes, and I'm no longer "very overweight", nor "not exercised in a long time", and I keep a towel near me for every work out! If you give your ALL to any tape, it works as best as you make it. ;) :sunny:

Best wishes to you on your Onward and Downward goal! :cheer2:

Thanks for the info. I think I will give it a try as I'm not ready to start walking around my neighborhood just yet. Not ready to have people drive by and stare at me and I'm just not the type to join any kind of club.

KimRaye-thats wonderful that you've lost 49 pounds. I'm doing WW also-down 5 pounds as of last night.

Christine - thanks for the description of what the tapes are actually about.

Gee. I guess my opinion is no good.

Sorry if I offended you with my feelings on the tape. I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way. Others have said the same. I just didn't know where eeyoreforever was in her fitness level. When I started using WATP, I was only about 8 lbs overweight and had NOT been exercising for approximately 6 months. My fitness level was down, but certainly not horrible. After doing the 2 mile tape with stretchie band (interspersed with some outside walking), I was through with it in one month. That tape is no longer a workout for me. I don't like people wasting their money on exercise equipment that doesn't fit their fitness level and I thought I'd be honest about my experience with it. Your experience is different and your experience should be heard also. Doesn't mean that my experience is invalid.
