housekeeping comes back in the evening, repleneshes toiletries and towels, straightens up again and turns down the beds, leaving a candy on the pillows.
It really is nice to come "home" to!
It is so nice and comforting. It's something I really enjoy having on vacation.
It's everything the OP said and also.....
Sometimes they dim the lights close the curtains and have quiet music on the radio or the TV playing Disney music softly. At the Grand, they also place a card on the bed with a Disney thought for a nice night's dreaming. Very cute. At some resorts they also include the next day's weather forecast on a little card on the beds with the chocolates.
It makes coming back to the room after a long day in the parks so cosy.
Is this something you request or is it done automatically at the deluxe resorts? We are staying at Beach Club in Dec. Do you tip extra for this? I may sound cheap, but I don't want to have to tip for yet another thing.

It used to be standard in all deluxe resorts in all rooms. I believe that these days it's only standard for suites and CL rooms except at teh GF where all rooms still get it. At other deluxes it can be requested in non-CL rooms.
You would tip for it. We usually leave $2-3 per evening. If you don't want it, simply call housekeeping and tell them so.
Turn down service? I think it sounds silly to ask someone to do this for a task that's so simple. I could see someone who was born with a silverspoon who's probably never wiped their own backside request this, but for me to ask for this service, that's a big NO NO . Well, maybe i'll ask once.
