Are the airports and flights busy, or the opposite, also if we fly to orlando on 12/26 we will be returning january 2nd, didn't know if that was crazy too.

I would expect things to be very crowded. A lot depends on the day of the week that Christmas falls on. WIth Christmas being on Sunday I would bet that there will be numerous travelers heading back home etc rather then taking a week off... I flew that day last year and it wasn't horrid, but it was full.

Is there any way you can fly 12/25 and 1/1 instead. While history is no indication of future events (especially with airfares), in previous years airlines have offered special low rates ON these holidays, as well as on Thanksgiving Day, because they're extremely slow travel days. Note that these sales are announced MUCH closer to the actual day, so you'd be taking a chance by waiting.

Thanks, leaving on 12/25 is definately something i could do, i'll have to think about it. And I wonder if i booked early and then could get a credit or something if i cancelled it to book the sale tickets, if they did come out. If I could, i don't know how it all works. This will only be my second time :cool1:

If Southwest flies in and out of an airport that's reasonably close to you, they're your best option. This is (apparently) the only airline that doesn't charge ANYthing extra for cancelling or changing tickets - although if you rebook on a higher-priced flight, obviously you have to pay the difference. One drawback is that they don't release fares more than a few months in advance; another is that they don't have assigned seating. When you check in, you get boarding passes marked A, B or C. This indicates with which group you board, and then you just get on the plane and pick your own seats.
