What is this "new" Luggage Delivery Option???

I've seen posts on Facebook about a pilot program for SW customers that will deliver your checked luggage to your Disney resort upon your arrival. What is this about? Is it all resorts or just the value resorts? Can anyone point me to where I can find more information? We have a short trip coming up and while I want to pack light, we are planning on doing a little shopping so I would like to check a bag so I can have room to bring things home. The problem is that our flight lands at 3:15pm and we are planning on attending Jollywood Nights on our arrival night and the gates open at 5:30pm so we are a bit pressed for time. We really don't want to wait 30+ minutes at MCO waiting for our checked bag if we don't have to. We are staying at OKW and we have a private car service booked for our arrival transportation.

Its only SW and its only Values.
It starts November 18th.
It says usually takes 4 hours for the bags to arrive.

I *just* found the article about it...

This is really cool! We had a reservation at ASSports, but we had a "last-minute" waitlist come through at OKW which definitely trumps the luggage situation. I will gladly forego a checked bag with delivery to stay at OKW over getting my luggage delivered to ASSports. Hopefully, this program is successful and it expands to more resorts in the coming years.

I used to love the luggage delivery service - until we had to take our luggage with us and found we like this so much better! I found I’d rather have our luggage with us and be able to settle in at the resort and unpack rather than waiting fir our luggage to be delivered.

Others will feel differently but this is what works for us.

I agree! For this upcoming trip, though, we are on a bit of a time crunch so we do not have time to wait 30+ minutes for our luggage to arrive at baggage claim. We are only staying 3 nights so it is very easy for us to pack in carryy-ons only, but we were hoping to have a bag for some take-home souvenirs. Oh well...in the end, it will save us money! We won't buy extra stuff and we won't have to pay for the checked bags! Win-Win!

I called the other day to get details. It is Value only which sucks! The agent did say "big things" are happening... This is a huge issue for DH and I though we plan to use the Minnie Van in May. Fingers crossed!

I also like having my luggage with me, but if they were going to bring back something, I vote for Magical Express.

For me, it depends on my arrival plans. If I get there in the morning and can’t check in until 4, I’m fine with them holding my luggage, since it would just sit in my rental car or with the resort’s bell services anyway.
If I arrive after 4 and can check in immediately, I'll just keep my luggage with me.

Well, they said this to me a few years ago (late 2022) as well, in regards to Magical Express. Until it happens, unfortunately, it really does not mean anything. :(

My husband mentioned it is odd they would start this with the values instead of deluxes....considering how much more those guests pay. I do wonder why they chose the values. And I wonder how long until it becomes a paid service.

You could also do the mail delivery service. You can save your receipts from the merch bought at parks and resorts to mail in one package. Of course you can do it item per item but it’s great to bundle - save on shipping fees, save on time instead filling out multiple forms.

I was bummed when they stopped delivering merch back to our rooms. I really didn’t like the idea of spending to ship home either! 😂 But then we ended up buying a decent amount of holiday stuff at MK that we didn’t want to carry around. Shipping turned out super convenient and the cost was reasonable. I’m not certain - but iirc it starts at $13 and caps out at $40? And I’m pretty sure that also includes insurance. Since then we have also gone down to the resort store with our all our merch and receipts to mail too.

I seem to recall reading that values have such a higher occupancy rate that some of those resorts have difficulty finding g room for storage?🤷‍♀️

Thankfully it would be optional

That makes sense.....maybe also a good "test" starting with high volume? I don't know....still seems they would make it available to those who are paying more.

Maybe there are some good additions coming. ??

I am 2 weeks before arrival. I just received a survey that was specific to my upcoming stay. It was asking about my mode of transportation to and from the airport, if I intend to purchase LLMP or LLPP and a host of other questions that were financially focused.

Does it mean anything will change soon? Perhaps not. It does sound like they are putting their feelers out. I feel sure all guests staying on property are receiving this same survey.

We have done this and it is great option. It helps when you just do not have enough luggage to take all of your merch home. Also, you do not have to worry about TSA/airline agents taking items from your check-in bags.

I do want to warn there is a big possibility, unless they offer and you pay for express shipping, you may not receive your package until after Christmas if you do this option in December.

When they took away the resort and front-of-the-park delivery, our spending changed drastically. We used to be $1500 or so on souvenirs during a single trip. Now we spend $100-$200 max.

Our merch spending dropped too. It’s a pain carrying stuff around all day. Either it’s heavy or might get broken or lost. Plus merch got really boring for a few years. The fun and excitement of buying souvenirs became a challenge and a chore.

Late 2023 the variety and quality finally started improving and has been better since. I still miss the resort delivery! That is irreplaceable.

I begrudgingly tried the mail delivery. Turned out better than imagined. Not always a great option but it was nice not having merch bags clutter our room, or needing to safely pack all of it, then weighing down our luggage through the airport, etc. In that regard it made going home much easier than usual. No matter how much stuff you buy it will cost no more than $40 to ship together and that also includes insurance. They are very careful wrapping and told me anything damaged will be replaced or refunded.

Great point to keep in mind! December is notorious for shipping delays.
