Since we can't be at Disney right now, DW and I have been surfing Google Maps looking at all the happy little people way down below. Right near the Caribbean Beach Resort, it looks like there's another hotel to the east. Here's a Google maps link to the spot:

CBR are the blue, orange, and brown roofs to the west, but I'm trying to figure out what the building is to the east going around the pond/lake. The roads aren't fully completed to this hotel yet.

Anyone been down there recently who can tell me what this is?

That's the Bonnet Creek Resort. Non-Disney. IIRC, so far Fairfield(?) Timeshares, Hilton and Wyndam have signed on.

The satellite photos of Disney were recently updated on Google Maps. It used to be that anything south of the lagoon in World Showcase were not high resolution. If you zoom in at Epcot, you can see the color change in the photos... those are the new ones that were added recently. Now the entire Disney property is in high resolution.

Thanks for posting that link! :thumbsup2

This is the timeshare resort section of the Bonnet Creek development. This resort is in the process of being renamed from Fairfield Orlando at Bonnet Creek to Wyndham Bonnet Creek.

The orange-roof building to the north is the "Village Center" with the main pool and activities areas. To the south is "Building 1." East of that is "Building 2" - under construction in this photo but actually completed and in use now. Next, to the east of Bldg 2, is the 2nd pool area and then "Building 3" - both open. They've also reportedly broken ground on Building 4, along the north side of the lake, east of the Village Center. Building 3, the 2nd pool area and Building 4 are all shown as undeveloped (brown earth) in the photo.

There are several existing contracts to build more hotels within the Bonnet Creek development. A top-shelf Wyndham Hotel is supposed to go in alongside the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, along the lakefront, east of the timeshare.

South of the timeshare in the photo, it's interesting to see the beginnings of the new golf course which is planned for the development. I wonder how far along that's come, since this picture was taken. There will be a new, 1,000-room Hilton and a 500-room Waldorf-Astoria adjacent to this Rees Jones designed golf course.

The Wyndham, Hilton and Waldorf-Astoria are all supposed to be completed in 2009, I think.

Further toward the east, at the end of the little road in the photo, there's room for two more hotels, sort of overlooking I-4. Offhand, I don't recall which companies have signed on to build those, if any. FWIW, I've driven down this road - the street, sidewalks and streetlamps are all built, paved, useable.

It's going to be very nice when everything is complete... a nice addition to the neighborhood. :sunny:
