What is this free dining?

I see lots of people discussing the free dining and I wondered if someone would be kind enough to give me some more information.

We are UK DVC members and we will be staying at AKL for 10 nights in February 2009. Will we qualify for free dining and if so how do I go about arranging this.

there is a complex set of circumstances that cause disney to offer incentives... Free Dining is one way they offer incentives for people to come to WDW during the "slow" seasons.

In general, you have to book a package for certain times of years and free dining will be offered. Feb is probably not going to be one of those times.

It is a special promotion offered in August and Sept only ( US Hurricaine season)It is the Disney Dining Plan free with purchase of a MYW pkg and tickets with resort .Must be at least 3 nights stay, and MUST be rack rate.Meaning a full priced pkg,No other discounts may be used. Hope this helps.

They do not offer "free" dining to DVC members staying on points. You can purchase the dining plans through member services for the length of your stay.

This 2007 Virgin Holidays advertisement might help explain what was offered to UK Res for 2008 (of course you could book the vacation through any TA or Disney directly, not just Virgin Holidays, but I think this ad explains the specifics pretty well) :

Disney FREE Dine and FREE Nights offers available for new bookings made between the 23 August and 6 November 2007 for departures 10 August and 27 September 2008 only. Offers are subject to availability and Virgin Holidays standard terms and conditions.

Disney Dining Plan ‘Free Dine’ Offer
Offer applies to departures 10th Aug 2008 – 27th Sep 2008 ONLY. Eligible bookings MUST include at least a 5 night stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, AND Disney’s Ultimate or Premium Tickets, for all people on the booking.

The accommodation and theme park tickets MUST both be booked through Virgin Holidays, and the Disney Dining Plan must be booked for all people on the booking, for every night of their stay at a Walt Disney Resort hotel.
