What is there to see in Venice?

Why? On the itinerary already or thinking of adding it?

Venice itself is a unesco historic site. The whole thing is like an open air museum. No cars allowed. So a lot of the attraction is just wandering through the alleys and seeing the city. Riding boats through the canals.

Then there are also a lot of great museums. San Marco has some amazing architectural elements and is both a church and museum. There's the Peggy Guggenheim if you're into modern art. A great Asian museum. A music museum. A da Vinci museum. The old Jewish ghetto and it's holocaust memorial. The doge's palace. The list goes on.

And then there are the other island that have their own histories- lace making and glass.

Venetian seafood, Venetian history. Any high end shopping you may like, you'll probably find in venice.

Do you mean Venice Italy? I could spend days wandering the back streets finding quiet canals and squares, churches, galleries and museums and catching the boats out to the islands. In peak season it gets jammed packed you can't move unless you get off the beaten track, which though it is a small area, is surprisingly easy as everyone sticks to two or three main routes. I have many friends who don't overly like it. We love it - very much personal taste.
