DH has been in Iraq/Afghanistan and we are celebrating his return with an Eastern cruise. As a result, we will be wanting to spend almost all of the time we are on the cruise together as a family. I have been reading the forums and watching the Disney promo DVD and have seen so much for adults to do, activities just for kids, and events targeted just for teens that I am concerned that there aren't enough things for whole families to do together. Obviously there are the pools and the shows, but am I missing something? Am I worried for no reason? Please help! Should we should be doing the land/sea or just WDW?

Thanks once again everyone,
RTW

The goofy pool is for families, as are the movies during the day.

Studio Sea has a lot of family shows in addition the big productions put on in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Besr of all Castaway Cay has got a fantastic family beach with plenty for all of you to do together.

Enjoy and say thank you to your husband for me for serving our country!

I think the cruise is a perfect vacation for your family. There is so much to do as a family, and it is so much more relaxed than the parks. There are several family activities during the day: Family dance party, Mickey Mania game show, family dance lessons; the evening show, family caberet shows--magicians, comedians, deck parties; first run shows, playing shuffle board and ping-pong; walking on the deck; dining together each night. My DD and I enjoyed family animation, having our picture taken, etc. There is a ton of stuff to be done as a family!

Don't worry another minute! There are plenty of family-together things to do on the ship. :cheer2: I know somewhere on the web you can download semi-recent Navigators that will give you an idea of the types of activities they offer. I think it is at *****************. Please give your husband a special hug from my family. We appreciate so much what he has down for us and our country. :grouphug: And thank you to you and your children for all you have done by letting him serve. God bless you all! :flower1:

oops....I can't put the website address on there...darn. It is a com site for castawayclub. You'll love all of the info you can find there. (including menus...yum, yum! WARNING...don't read them if you are hungry!) :boat:

Here's another website to try www.dcltribute.com

Copys of the menus and navigators there as well. Lots of great information!

Other than the wine tasting, we were together with our 12 and 16 year old 24/7 for our DCL cruise.
The previous year we did the same on our HAL cruise. Kids did check the kids club activities, but found the general ship activities were more to their liking.
Went to movies, shows, trivia contests, spend what seemed like forever in front of the windscreen on the sports deck in front of the basketball courts....odd that it was December, gale force winds, and still warm enough to stand there in a Tee shirt and shorts.

Hi,

Thanks for the encouragement, good thoughts, suggestions, ideas and links. Guess I'll stop wringing my hands and start loosening up the kitchen sink so I can start packing it along with everything else. Sheesh, I could use a good vacation.

Fair winds and following seas,
RTM
