This doesn't make sense to me at all. Are they saying that People staying in studios don't have much money on them??? That is ridiculous.

We're getting a studio and a 1 bedroom. The people who will be staying in the studio are not going to be happy about that.

Why have they chosen to neglect the people in studios in such a serious way??? It just seems logical to put a safe into every room regardless of size or cost of room. I don't see this as a luxury! This is a necessity.

I hope they are planning on adding safes to all of their rooms.

I guess 10 years ago in room safes weren't a big deal. I was told they are supposed to get up-fitting with in the near future. Hey,we just got hair dryers a few months ago :-)

good to hear about the hair dryers ;)

I don't think they ever imagined that studios would be used so much. I think that the original concept of "Home Away From Home" meant that the vast majority of people would be using the two bedroom units.

Many families with only one or two kids get a two bedroom for that "Home" feeling. Every master bedroom has a safe, I believe they felt that would be sufficient.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", Karl Marx, pretty sick, huh?

I think Rich probably hit the reason. The studio is often the second bedroom...the safe being in the master bedroom. Once again, it would be nice to have a safe but it is not that vital. I've stayed in many hotel rooms without a safe. They claim they are making all DVC resorts identical in amenitities so they may put safes into the studios as well.

As Rich states, the OKW studios are the lock off component of a 2BR villa- which already has a safe in the master BR.
Safes (lock boxes) are available, by request, at the front desk for those who would like the extra security.

I don't think that they even thought about it. The assumption, a poor one, was that there is a safe in the 1 bedroom component of the unit so it was not necessary. And, also, it could have been a sign of the times....safer times. The studio not being used as a studio is not a valid reason. If they were never planning on renting lock-offs as seperate lodging then why did they build them that way? One of these days it will dawn on some folks that many folks prefer studios due to the bang for the buck.
