What is the thought process here?

You receive an invitation to a wedding being held at a country club. Your choice of attire is faded blue jeans, and untucked shirt, and tennis shoes. Is this considered appropriate for this occasion?

Not even if you are the help and are there only to take the trash out.

Really?

I really hope they're talking about someone else they saw at this wedding... not themselves!

I waitressed at a country club and I doubt anyone would have been allowed inside the door wearing that.

My college roommate's father was the general manager at an extremely high end country club/golf course (they've held the Masters there). Anyway, we had to drop her car off one night so her father could have it fixed. We were wearing jeans, sweatshirts and sneakers. We ran in through the front door and straight up the stairs to his office. She called him and had him come up. He was still angry at her and escorted us down the backstairs and out the kitchen. :rotfl2:

The point to that was...if that's all you have to wear then don't go at all.

Probably not but to be honest I would rather have someone I loved there dressed like that then have them not there at all.

Now, if it is one of those "we had to invite them" people, I'd say no. :goodvibes

OP-Did you actually see this?

Only if it's a themed wedding!

It is appropriate if that is what the couple want. I'm sure you could wear something casual yet dressy.

Thought process = "I'm on go get me sum beer!"

Translation - "I have been invited to a social event that will serve alcoholic beverages. I am going to go dressed in what I have on this exact minute and try to drink as much free liquor as I possibly can."

It would not be proper attire for me but I would not care if someone else wore that outfit. If the wedding was mine I would have the same answer.

Klassy! :thumbsup2

Of course, some people will go to their graves braying about their right to do whatever they want, whenever they want. They are juvenile enough to make any situation about them and their desire to show off how unencumbured they are by societal norms or expectations. They're independent, dammit! They're sticking it to the man! And they loooooooove to tell you about it!

You might have a point here. It was an open bar.

We went to a very elegant wedding of a self made Millionaire's DD. A few of his relatives -male-had plaid cowboy shirts and blue jeans on. I cant see any wedding Blue jeans being OK:sad2:

I was the maid of honor for a friend years and years ago. It was in a very tiny, old country church that didn't even have electricity and then they had the reception in her sister's back yard. Her family was dressed to the nines. Her mother-in-law??? Not so much. She wore short-shorts with a tube top!! The father-in-law wore a suit. Needless to say, my friend was not happy!

nope - not proper attire!

My older DS got married at a Country Club with a dress code. We were asked not to wear any denim even for the rehearsal. Of course, one family member came to the wedding in blue jeans and plaid shirt. His buttoniere (sp?) looked great on that plaid!

Then when my younger DS got married, the ceremony & reception was at a Brewery. My sister-in-law wanted to know if her 10 year old DSs could wear T-shirts & shorts. Gee - just 'cause it's at a brewery doesn't mean it's in a barn! I asked that they have nice clothes on for the ceremony & family pix. After that, I didn't care if they changed.

I second that. We have had many of our school swimming events hosted at various Country Clubs in the area. The only dress code that is ever communicated is No Denim. This isn't only no jeans; they mean denim shirts, skirts etc.. I guess they might make an exception if it were a day the club is closed to general membership. Sounds kinda odd to me.
