Nowadays the codes seem to have gone to a straight $$$ off, which means the more expensive the rack rate of the room is, the less % off you now receive. So, for example, WDW has been giving about $85 off per night for deluxe resorts, regardless of resort or room category. For WL and AKL standard view, that works out to be about 42% off rack rates for those rooms (using value season here). If you move up to GF Garden View, the same $85 off works out to be only 25% off rack rates. The % off can get as low as 14% if you use the code rates for a RPC concierge room at GF. It's still a savings though, but it is not as great as it used to be. The codes that usually offer the best discounts are the AP rates. Those usually are $5 - $10 more per night than general public codes or postcard codes.
