I'm directing this question to people who live at least 3 hours flight time away. There is really cheap air fare from SW. I'm wondering if any of you have ever flown down after work on a Friday and come home on Monday night or even Sunday night? Would this be worth it? :confused3 We're going for a week in late January but I could really use a fix now. By the way this is actually Michael623. I can't figure out how to log out of the wife's computer.

I am only 2.5 hours away from Disney (via flying) so alittle shy of the 3 hrs. Anyhow, we have gone for a 4 day weekend before. It was last fall. We went so we could go to MNSSHP. We left out early Thursday and came home late Sunday.

In 2002, we drove down (12 hr. drive) on a Monday. We went to Animal Kingdom on Tuesday, Epcot on Wednesday, and Magic Kingdom on Thursday. Then we drove back home on Friday. It was way too short!!! :(

Not Disney, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway :)

Two weeks ago DH had to attend a conference in Washington DC from Weds. through the weekend. I was really tied up at work, so he left on Weds, I flew up on Friday night (3.5 hour flight) arriving at the hotel at 10:30 pm. DH was waiting for me to have dinner. Saturday and Sunday we went to museums, the Nat'l Cathedral, had fantastic meals... Oh, BTW, DH skipped most of the conference on Sat and ALL of it on Sunday :rotfl2:

We go to DC several times a year so it wasn't like we needed to see everything, just a few of our favorites. We flew home Monday morning and were at work Monday afternoon. My boss doesn't even know I left town over the weekend ;) . I called from the airport to say I would not be able to make it to work in the morning and would be in later :smooth: (which isn't really a lie, now is it? :teeth: ).

So, would I do this to go to WDW? Absolutely, in a heartbeat! In fact, DH and I are talking about doing something like this in the fall to go to NYC. For that we would take Friday off, take the first flight out, and come back Monday morning in time to go to work at least half the day.

HTH!

From Philly airport thursday to monday SW $49 flights  :Pinkbounc

We have done two 3 day trips there. One we were already down there though, so doesn't count. The second one was just this past January and we flew down very late on Friday night (got to the hotel around 2am) and came home Monday afternoon. It was DH and I and our 4 year old.

I am going in less than two weeks, same thing sort of. Just adults though, so much easier.

Living in the Boston area, we do short trips when we need our Disney fix but can't spare a lot of time off. We have done just a two day trip as you suggest, but prefer to make it three days instead.

i'm going to visit family in the sarasota,fl area (i'm from up north). we're driving over 1 1/2-2 hours) to MK just for the day and then driving home the same day! it will be just such a tease to only be at one park for one day, but ya take what ya can get when you live way up north like me!! :cool1:

We are from Michigan. We took our our dd age 2(at the time) in October of 1971.
It was only 12 days old! We stayed for the day and then headed to a beach.
Of course WDW only had !park, the CR and the POly and FW at the the time. Our next stay was at FW with our moter home and we stayed four nights.
Have fun at Disney!

We drove down last year for my birthday on Sat., went to the MK for a few hours on Sun. and drove home Sun. afternoon. We're about 5 hrs. away.

After getting my BF to go for the first time this past June/July...we are going to go on a quick trip from NY just to see the Christmas decorations. We are also going to attend MVMCP. We are going to fly out early early Friday and come home Sunday. I think he liked it more than he was letting on :) :rolleyes1

Our shortest trip was a Thurs to Sun.

Just a few weeks ago one of the regional airlines ran a special for $15 each way (it ended up being around $45 with the airport fees etc). The flight left at 7:30 am, arrived in Orlando at 9:30ish. Return flight left at 10:30 pm. My wife and I seriously considered flying down for the day. We thought it would be cool to fly down, spend the day at Epcot and come home that night. Didn't work out though, by the time we decided to pull the trigger, all the cheap flights were gone.

We are in MA, a 3 hour flight (24 hour drive).

Just last month DH and I celebreated our 10th anniversary in WDW. We left on an 8:30 am flight on Friday and returned on a 3:00pm flight Sunday. It was well worth it! :goodvibes

We lived outside of Toronto Canada for a year. Last December we flew down on a Friday night, spent Sat/SUN at WDW and flew back on Monday AM. It was tiring, but worth it. We saw MVMCP, and visited MK and Studios.

MLK weekend in 2004. flew down fri night, did MK sat, epcot sun, flew home monday evening. Just a quick fix!!! doing the same thing this jan., except flying down Thurs night, have fri, sat and sun and the parks, and fly home monday.

I have a dream, too!!! :goodvibes

Last year I went with friends over Columbus Day weekend just to go to F&W. We left Friday night and returned home Monday night.
We had a blast!

Had a two-day trip back in '87 when it was just Magic Kingdom & EPCOT.

Flew down from Michigan on Friday night, flew back on Sunday night. It was a nice (much needed) pick-me-up. :)

We've done Friday to Monday, from NYC area.

We were actually looking to just get away for the weekend once, and started pricing Bosotn and NYC, both of which were pretty expensive.

We priced WDW and found out that we could go there for less than going to Boston or NYC (at least that weekend), so we did!!!!

Our shortest trip was 4 days (before a week at the beach).

DD has a 3-day Fall Break each October (Wed-Fri) and we usually take advantage of that break to go to WDW for 8 days. She misses 2 days of school (Mon-Tue) in addion to the break. However, we know as she gets older (she's in 3rd grade now) it will be harder to take her out of school for those 2 days. So, we'll probably just do a trip where we fly down Tues night/Wed morning and fly home on Sunday so we can go to MNSSHP. We LOVE WDW in October!
