What is the Scream Team?

What is the Scream Team? It sounds like it's a group of WISHers that cheer at the marathon. Do they also cheer at the half? How will I recognize them and how will they recognize me?


Also, where can I get some tips for my family that is coming to cheer my sister and I on? Are there good places for them to stand? Can they hold signs or bring noise makers or something?

The best way to be seen is to wear a WISH shirt or hat.

There will be people screaming for the half as well as the full, you will even see thunder mat back on the coures somewhere after he has finished!!! Just look for the mickey hat and gloves.

Your family can bring signs, horns, cow bells whater they want!!!

As for where to stand it depends on your time. You can watch at MK and then get back to the broadwalk, then the finish in Epcot car park. If you are really fast you might just see them on the broadwalk. nere the time Disney will put up a chart for spectors with with a time table for your pace as to where to watch and at what time.

Since the shirt and hat orders are placed and I believe already being sent out to those that ordered them (wasn't paying close attention since I didn't order this time). Another thing is just to yell WISH. I've done 2 races without a WISH shirt. I spotted the shirts in the race and just ran/walked up and said Hi and introduced myself.

One time comes to mind at WDW's half that I yelled WISH WISH WISH at Carrie, Scott and Cam. Funny look from Carrie for a split second that cracked me up then and still does when I think back. Expect a split second delay as the person is trying to mentally place your face but then the screaming starts even louder

You might spot my Mom and other's family members on the course in WISH shirts who won't know many people. My DH came down 1 year and had a nasty allergy attack, frankly I thought he was sick but anyways he had to be the most miserible screamer out there But he was there, and it was wonderful but sometimes we don't know what is going on with those that are screaming. So if you encounter a quiet one don't take it personally. It might be they are sick, might be caught off guard or took a bit to react.

This past Jan's half I encountered WISH shirt after WISH shirt while doing the race so I imagine you will find yourself around other team mates quite a bit

Oh family can get into the MK like Syko said. The monorail is running, Mom has bused with me to the staging area and I went to staging and she went to the monorail. Polynesian was open for coffee and such (Capt Crooks). People go out of the Polynesian to the road to cheer. Big crowds there. Big crowds at the TTC as well as Main Street. Any of those and you can jump the monorail back to Epcot for the finish. People also cheer as the racers go back into Epcot (where the regular resort buses drop guests). Like Syko mentioned a lot depends on your pace. I've spotted someone's DH at the TTC and then again by the Polynesian. Chester in March did that too, he was at TTC and then went a bit down the road from the Polynesian.

Scream Teamers are the Best!

I can't think of any other info that might add to the excellent info given. Hope your question was answered.

You are exactly right..scream team is what we call cheering others on at the Disney races..whether it's the 5K or the full, tri's or the Muddy Buddy..whenever we can, we try to encourage others! There is no one "official" scream team. Rather, it's just WISHers who are out anywhere on the course yelling! In the past, as the time for the January events near, you'll see a thread pop up with a list of where people think they might be screaming. You'll get some ideas for your family from that, or, in the marathon newsletter there will be some pointers. As people participating in the half and the full have discovered, it is a big encouragement to know that there are WISHers on the course. Sometimes, that's what gets us from one point to the next..we know that there is a WISH group at ____.

If you don't have a WISH shirt or hat, that's no problem. A lime green ribbon on your shirt or hat will help. If you are able to get to the Friday WISH meet at Pop Century you'll meet a lot of people there. Or on race morning, you'll see a group of lime green WISH shirts, come on over! We don't bite! Out on the course, say, "Hi!" to any WISHer. We enjoy meeting people and sharing the course for whatever amount of time.

Please consider joining the thread for those who are training for the 1/2 marathon. There are lots of first timers as well as veteran Disney half marathoners sharing great information. No question is considered silly, either!!

I just wanted to add the WISHers just don't cheer or encourage WISHers....on the course many of us like to talk to our fellow participants, offering a hello and good job. We often get comments on the saying on the back of our shirts and it gives us a chance to share and receive some encouraging words. And when scream teaming we cheer for everyone....ok we might go nuts when we see a WISHer, but we yell, clap, and ring cowbells for everyone. It is one of the nicest things about our group!

DH and I (We woudl eb the Scott adn CArrie Diane referred to) like to monorail to MK and chear on Main Street. We stay for teh last person (as teh others said, we support everyone we can), from tehre we go to teh back of Epcot where the runners have just over amile to go. then, we head for teh W tent to see people post race. Come ot Pop and untroduce us to your scream teamers. That's how we ended up meeting Sandy321's husband and we all ahd a great time scream teaming together.

If you can, and i know it's not always possible, returnign teh fasvor on Sunday during the full would be greatly appreciated.

Simply put the Scream Team is the bestest group of people ever!!!

Knowing they're there, that the next group is near mile ___, that ThunderMatt will appear on the overpass, that there is always more cowbell and that they really care...well it's what helps keep me moving. It's also great to watch for WISH shirts on the out/back on the full -- helps to kill the time watching the other side for the lime green then yelling WISH!!!!!

They are co-athletes, friends and family. They are WISH.

And coming to the Friday Pop meet seems overwhelming - its ok - just put one foot in front of the other!! I know I was intimidated my first WISH race - Half in '08

but this wish team is amazing!! Anne/Maherae just plopped down and said hi to everyone - and when she saw me running between mile 7 - 8 I'll never forget how much she helped me make it to the end!!
