What is the saddest episode on a TV show that you've seen?

I think all mine have been mentioned ...
MASH - both Henrys death and the final episode
All In The Family - Ediths death
several Touched By An Angel episodes (actually, I've only seen three and each one made me cry !)

And the Doctor Who episode when Rose is stuck in a parallel universe ... I was mad as heck, but I cried !

I'm not reading this anymore! But I wanted to comment on the ones I've read so far.
I remember watching Ally McBeal when her childhood friend and love of her life just keeled over and died in the court room. Why can't I remember his name now?
I remember this! The dad from my so called life and courtney thorne smith was his wife?!?!
right?

Futurama. The episode where Frye remembers his dog and how close they were and at the end Frye gets frozen but the dog doesn't know it and sits outside the pizza parlor waiting for him to return. He sits and waits through seasons and seasons until he dies. We absolutely can't watch that one here or we all start bawling.
Oh. my. goodness. I thought I was the only one out there. :sad1: I'm a HUGE futurama fan (my boyfriend's kids call me Amy Wong as a joke) and I can't watch this episode! I can watch it up to the point where they show the dog left behind. Then I flip it. :sad1:
The Real World 3rd season (San Francisco) when the let us know that Pedro had died.
:sad1: Not a tv show, darnit! He was real!
thought of a couple more-

the episode of 'news radio' after phil hartman was murdered. the staff has to convince andy dick's character that it realy happened:guilty:

for us 'older folks':rotfl2: watching the episode of sesame street where they have to explain to big bird about mr. hooper's death was very memorable.

Newsradio was the best - and Phil Hartman dying was SO SAD!
but I don't know if I blocked Mr Hooper dying or if I really didn't see it, but I don't remember it!

I LOVED the last episode of Will and Grace. I loved how they took a look into the future. I loved how Jack and Karen were still together. In fact, I cried when they sang "Unforgettable" together. That is one of my all time favorite series finales. Much better than Seinfeld's. I was thoroughly disappointed in that one.

Okay, well we totally disagree about W&G but totally agree on Seinfeld!!! What were they thinking?

This hasn't been mentioned, and I do realize that it is a children's show, but it caught me so off guard when I watching it with the kids that I had to leave the room so I could bawl for a few minutes.

But. . .Blue's Clues Neighborhood Festival episode with Marlee Matlin (sp) as the librarian. At the end, they show a screen that says "In Memory of Mr. Rogers. We will miss you around the neighborhood"

I tear up just typing it and forget telling people. I start sobbing! Silly. I think I may need to seek professional help! ;)

All time - Mark Greene's death on ER. My FIL was dying at the time, so it was even more emotional for us than it would be normally. In fact, DH couldn't watch it then and has never seen it.

Also, Lucy's death - made even more touching by the cranky doctor's reaction. One of the few times we saw that he cared for anyone.

Also from ER - and I don't think it's been mentioned - but Mark's father's death. When Mark had been caring for him for awhile and then he dies. The scene is amazing, and so real. There is just silence for a few minutes and then you realize that Mark just can't hear it.

Mark was a real centerpice of that show for me though and once he was gone, teh show was over for me. That and they wrecked by going so over the top. But I also don't want to get involved with those characters.

Also echo -
Henry's death on MASH, Edith's death, dad on Good Times; those are big ones too.

I just learned here tonight about Dan Conner. I had stopped watching that show so I didn't know that he had died.

Oh my gosh ! I forgot about the Mr Hooper episode of Sesame Street ! I grew up loving Mr Hooper - So sad.
