What is the point of a "fish extender" and door decorating?

We are doing magnets and FE for the first time in a couple weeks. I've had fun making everything. Our other cruises have been concierge so this was the first time I even attempted the magnet thing. I haven't told DD yet. I think she will get a kick out if it.

We are booked into our first ever cruise August 18 and I think my 8 yr old girl would love to do the FE thing. What types of gifts go in? She is a crafter and would love to make little bits and bobs, if this is acceptable?
