What is the point conversion like with the Premier Disney Credit Card?

Seen alot of people say they use the Disney premier card for their Disney trips?

Does anyone know what the point redemption looks like when using them for Disney trips?

Just looking at the rewards percentages on purchases, my current credit cards give more back on a lot more variety of purchases, without an annual fee.

Just wondering if there was a big "discount" or something when redeeming the Disney card points vs standard cash.

I agree with above. Your current card may well give you more.

Earning rewards: the regular Disney Visa Rewards cards earn 1% rewards on all purchases; the "premier" card gives 2% on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and most Disney locations. I think the premier also gives 5% on Disney+ and Hulu

Vacation offers: both cards are eligible for some discounts, though those aren't usually any better than package promotions offered to the general public although the Visa offers may get a day or so early booking. There is also 0% interest on vacation packages, but excludes room-only and separate ticket purchases.

The premier card also allows you to use Reward points towards airline tickets.

We only use our Disney card ($0 Fee one) when Chase is offering bonuses like right now 5% back at Grocery Stores, Cell Phone providers and Gas.

We then use the rewards like @SandyinMonterey does and pay a teeny portion of our DVC dues with it.

This must be a targeted offer??
We have not received one of these offers in a few years!

Occasionally we used to get emails stating to activate a special offer but those have not been sent to us in a long time.

We check every month to see if there is something for our card at the chase website: https://www.chase.com/mybonus

You can actually check to see if any of your Chase cards would qualify for a special offer.

You will just need to put in your last name, last 4 of credit card and zip code.

I agree with the above posters. I use the Premier Visa (2% on Disney purchases, gas, groceries, restaurants) but use my Chase Freedom cash back card for everything else because it's 1.5%. It's kind of a pain to mess with 2 cards but it's how I can maximize the rewards best for me.

Plus, I can use the cash back from the Chase Freedom to purchase discounted Disney gift cards at Sam's so I'm saving more money!

Disney also offers 10% off over $50 at some dining & shopping locations if you use your Disney Visa, and they occasionally have promo rates for trips if you book with your Disney Visa.

I am assuming you are referring to the Chase Freedom Unlimited? The Chase Freedom & Freedom Flex receive 1% but have quarterly categories that you can earn 5% in if you activate them.

If you have the CF Unlimited or the CF Flex I would use that for dining as it earns 3% over the Disney 2%.
The original CF (no longer offered) only earns 1% on dining.

I agree with other posters. The Disney premier card is good for some people, but not the best option for everyone. I've seen many people say that the airline credit cards offer much more beneficial rewards than the Disney cards, but we're road trip people and don't really fly anywhere, so those cards don't make sense for us. YMMV. I know there are also other cards that offer cash back rewards at a higher percent than the Disney cards. I prefer to keep the Disney card for now because I like that the rewards are focused to Disney trips.

We use the Disney Premier card for everything because the 2% categories (gas, restaurants, and groceries) are the things we use that card for the most. We also have a Chase Freedom card for whatever the 5% bonus category is that quarter. This quarter it's grocery stores, so I'm not using the Disney card for groceries right now because the rewards are better on the Chase Freedom card. I use the rewards dollars from both cards for our Disney trips.

For our trip last June, we had accrued $3700 in Disney rewards and $500 in Chase Freedom rewards (which I take as a statement credit and used the card for hotels on the drive to and from Disney). Those rewards were earned over 4 years because we didn't have a trip in 2020. But we typically accrue about $2,000-$2500 between trips (going every other year). I already have about $1200 accrued between the 2 cards since June.

The Disney Visa (free or premier) gives you 6 months free financing if you use the card to book/pay for your Disney trip. That's not a benefit we use, but I know that's very useful for some families. The Disney Premier card allows you to use rewards for airline tickets (via a statement credit). There is also the 10% discount on food and merchandise purchases over $50 at Disney World. That usually saves us anywhere between $50-75/trip so that factors into our decision to use the Disney Visa for rewards as well. Plus they have really fun card designs that cashiers comment on all the time. :D DH has Darth Vader and I have Tinkerbell.

I do have the Chase Freedom Unlimited...I knew my intro offer showed 5% on gas for the first year but I didn't know about dining!

Thanks for the info!

That is awesome that you earned that many rewards.
Personally if I was you instead of the statement credit for your freedom I would do a direct deposit cash back and then pay your Disney Card with it since it seems you put more money on that card but at the end of the day it is all helping you get to that Magical Place. :)

The normal card ($0 Fee) also allows for the same discounts at WDW for merch and food.

You will also receive 10% off at shopdisney.com using the credit cards.

If you don't want a new credit card and have a chase checking account the Disney Debit card is a nice option. (Disneydebit.com or stop by your branch)
You do not earn rewards but it carries most of the same benefits like merch and food discounts at the park (not online) and the special photo opportunities.

As @bluezy stated they have great designs I recently swapped my 50th Anniversary card for the 100 year card.
I had the Tink card as well but they no longer offer it anymore :(

Yes, I should have clarified that both Disney cards get you the 10% discount. I've thought about doing the direct deposit thing with the Chase Freedom card, but we usually have a balance on there (from using it for the bonus categories) and when we don't, I find it easier (because I'm lazy. :D) to just charge the hotels to that card and use the credit. :)

I'm also very disappointed that they don't have the Tinkerbell card anymore. When the new designs came out the other week I wanted to switch to the 100 year card at least for a little while, but then I saw they didn't have the Tinkerbell card anymore so I wouldn't be able to switch back. :( Maybe they'll bring her back after the 100 year design is gone. I'm still salty that we dragged our feet for a few days in making the switch from the Toys R Us Visa card to the Disney card when it first came out and I missed out on having the "Member since day 1" line on my card. Had I known the cards had that tag line on them you can believe I would have applied right away. And now they took my Tinkerbell card option away. :furious::D

Agreed. I have 4 credit cards & Disney is the worst reward system. Still, I use it when I get discounts (Disney outlet, e.g.) or when I want to let one of my cards sit for a month, so my record-keeping can catch up wit my spending! lol And, of course, you get some nice perks at the parks.
