What is the "pin code trick?"

It's where you register at Disneyland.com and immediately after save your booking (but not book it) and then wait. Within a couple weeks you'll get an email to the address you registered with that has a pin (mine was 35% off) for one of the 3 DLR hotels. It's pretty cool, you should try it!

I used it a few weeks ago and received a pin code for 35% of via regular mail. Pretty cool though as it was for my dates plus a couple on the front and back.

Of course, it doesn't always work.

I tried it and all I got so far was a pin code for WDW for the dates we'll be in California.

If they don't get me a DLR pin code in the next few weeks, I'll be looking at good neighbor hotels, maybe through Costco.

I got a pin code last week, but I thought it was kind of strange. It said it was for 35% off, but when you just go to the DL site and put in the dates the room for 4 nights was about $670....then if you call the # and give them the PIN code, it was $630ish. I don't know where the 35% is supposed to be, because that's not even close. I guess everyone is getting 30% off just in general and the PIN gives you another 5%, wasn't what I was expecting! lol

I did it, and got an email pin for a free Dine in the Magic Plan. I was hoping for a % offer, but no such luck. Maybe something will come in the mail?

I tried it, and though I did get a pin code, it started the day we will be leaving so it didn't do me any good!

It worked for me, but the dates the pin code was good for did not work for me - our trip is in October and their valid dates were for November. :( I called and they said to keep watching my emails because they might send more out at a later date.

Based on the dollar amount you're quoting, I'm assuming you were checking PP. My pin code said UP TO 35% off, and it was a straight 35% for GCH when I did the comparison. --I didn't look at the other two hotels, so my theory could be off base......:confused3

And to the OP, I created four accounts before I recieved an offer. I'm sure they looked at my first one and said "we know she's coming, no need to give her an offer.":rolleyes1 I then created an account in my husband's name, and after receiving nothing I had my DD(23) who will be traveling with us create an account. STILL NOTHING. I eventually created an account with my work email, and finally they must have decided I was either extremely persistent and worthy of a pin, or, more likely, they thought I was a potential "new" victim to the madness. (ok, in our family, it is a madness.) I got a pin, and the incentive I was waiting for to book the GCH. (yay!)

Ahhh yes that's very possible. GCH is too pricey for us, so I didn't even look at it. I would think that PP would have been more than 5%-ish though. Oh well, we are always happy with our off site stays too :)

I've read about this a few times - can anyone enlighten me? Thank you!

It's actually the Saved Offer trick. If you've read about it a few times, I've given a detailed explanation of what the trick is in every 'pin code trick'-related thread that it's been mentioned in, but you may have missed it.:confused3

Oh, and to DizMe, I told you you would get a PIN code from trying the trick! Even if it was not for a date you could use, the trick worked!!

Here are the step-by-step instructions, and this is what has worked for me twice:

1. Create a "My Disneyland" account. Not a Disney.com account. Specifically, go to the Disneyland website, look for the little icon that says My Disneyland in the upper right section of the page, and create an account. Answer all the questions they ask you and say yes to any offers to send you newsletters, etc.

2. Stay logged into your My Disneyland account.

3. Either pull up the current advertised hotel offer on the DLR site, or go directly to the hotels section. Enter the dates of your trip and the desired hotel. The DLR system will calculate what the total due will be.

4. Save the hotel offer! When the hotel information appears on the page, you will see a little tab at the bottom that says Save, or Save Offer or something like that. Click on Save, and the offer will automatically save to your My Disneyland account. You can even check your My Disneyland account later to be sure the offer is there and saved.

5. Leave the Saved Offer there. Don't buy anything. Don't book anything. Don't spend any money on the DLR website.

In either a few days or a few weeks, via e-mail or snail mail, you should receive some correspondence from Disney Destinations. If it comes as an e-mail, the Subject line will say something about "Photos" of your chosen Disneyland Resort hotel, or something like that.

When you open up the e-mail, there should, hopefully, be a PIN code and rates for all three hotels towards the lower right section of the page. There will be a designated toll-free phone number to call to use this PIN code. There will also be a "Book by" date on there. For example, if you got a PIN code for 2 weeks in November, you may be required to book the room by September 5th or something, or you lose it.

Most of the e-mail PIN codes have the $163 PPH rate, and there is a window of time in which the PIN code will apply. You MAY get a PIN code that does not apply to your trip dates. That has been happening a lot lately. So it helps if you can be flexible with when you make your trip, or else you may not be able to use the PIN code.

The snail mail PIN codes seem to have even lower rates for all 3 hotels. There's no telling if you will get an e-mail or snail mail.

You may get an e-mail that has no PIN code at all - that has also happened.

What happens is that your Saved Offer sends a message to DLR that a possible onsite guest showed interest in the hotels BUT did not pay the crazy rates the website gave you. So they want to lure you in with a better rate.

Many people have now received this PIN when they followed the steps. But lots of people have also received PIN's for times they cannot go, and other people have received nothing. The Saved Offer trick has a pretty good success rate overall, though. And this seems to be the only direct way that we know of that will most likely produce a PIN code.

Oh, and if you do not get a PIN code with the first attempt, it has been suggested to create another account with a separate e-mail address and try again, and that might do the trick.

One other thing I should mention or add to my above explanation of the Saved Offer trick is that most of the PIN codes that have gone out via e-mail as a result of this trick are good for one night stays, if that's what you prefer. In other words, most of them don't require you to book 2 nights. Some of the offers that people are getting (like TahoeMom) - and there is no telling why some are different - have the requirement of booking 2 nights.

Both of my Saved Offer PIN codes - last year and this year - were good for one night stays and beyond. These are not packages of any kind - these are "room only" bookings.

I received a PIN code last year that was good for my exact December dates, and the PIN I received this year was good for October 16 - October 31 (not my exact dates), so they cover all kinds of time frames as long as there are enough PIN codes to go around.

Hope that helps!

Yep, you were right!!!! :worship: I'm going to keep trying. This is the first pin code I've ever gotten, so it's exciting even if unusable :rotfl:

You're right - it is exciting! Even when I got the PIN for the October dates this year, which were not exactly the dates I wanted but I was willing to be flexible with dates if needed to be, I was still excited to see it! It's nice just to know that you could use it if you suddenly had a change of plans!:rotfl2: It's nice to know of at least one specific way to get a PIN code (even if sometimes it does not work 100%), rather than just hoping DLR eventually sends one to you, right?

I honestly did not think the trick would work for me a second time since I just used one of those PIN's from the same trick last December. I thought it would be a one-time only thing per person. But I guess not.

I don't suppose this good fortune and wave of Saved Offer PIN codes will continue too much longer - hopefully through the end of this year.:confused3 I have a feeling that people will stop seeing as many PIN codes going out next year when DCA is all finished and Cars Land opens, etc. DLR is probably hoping for/expecting massive mobs of people descending on the parks to see all the new stuff, and they may not want to dole out too many great 35% off deals for a while, but we shall see what happens! IF they don't get the kind of business they are probably thinking they will get, then waves of PIN codes will go out again!:rotfl2:

Thank you! I went ahead and registered, although I doubt any discount is going to get me lower than the Candy Cane Inn, which is where we are currently booked. Can't hurt to try though!

ok just when you think you have a great grasp on disney someone posts something new....thank you for this information I just did this and HOPE we get a code in the next couple of days/weeks for our July trip. We only need one night then we will be staying DVC.

I've been saving differnt options for our trip in July. For each "save", I do receive a response about two weeks later, but none of them have offered a special pin code. All of them say something like, "Looks like you're interested in a Disney vacation, click here and book the magic today..." I doubt they offer any PIN discounts in summer.:sad1: - I hope they offer discount rates soon!

Like Diana Sparrow said, I don't think they'll have any for June/July, especially with Carsland.

I think Pins are easier to get in the off season, same time as good offers, just a little better of a deal.

is it possible to get multiple pins? IOW, if I register now and then come back and try to save other dates, would I get pins out of my original save trip data and then pins for the others? Or is it a one-shot deal? I know it is unlikely for December at all but that's when we are heading there but not until next year so I'm pretty far away from needing a pin anyway.
