What is the ONE thing you would change about DVC, DVC rules?

Shorten the current 7/14 refresh/refurb cycle.
Yeeessss!!! This is a good one.
I would make a rule that all my bookings are 1 point/night. Just mine, in order to not upset the existing balance in the system. 8-)

Maybe more seriously, I would let restricted resale points be used for bookings 4 months out.

So Riviera/VDH/CFW/future resale could be used anywhere at 4m and any resale points could be used at Riviera/VDH/CFW/future at 4m.

Availability tends to be pretty limited then, at least for the dates I travel, so this would be more along the lines of a relief valve rather than a booking feature.
I like this idea. Restricted but less restricted than it is now.

I wish there was a way to use points to pay for add-on features, specifically daily housekeeping and golf cart rentals. Like if a studio was 12 points per night, you could instead pay 14 points per night and get full housekeeping service.
This is a cool idea.

If I can only pick one, it would be a broader room type for the wait-list. For example, I am willing to take literally any studio at VDH, but I have to choose a particular type. I'm stuck playing the odds, trying to guess which type will open up first. Just let me pick "studio" instead which of the 8(?) types.

I was thinking exactly this just last night. Would be great to be able to just pick studio, 1 bed, 2 bed 3 bed regardless of view

I disagree, walking is allowed with the current rules or at least there is no wording against walking.

As per the current rules we can book from our check in day and 7 nights. That effectively means that anyone checking in after my dates could see zero availability even before the 11 months window opens.

In reality the rule is everyone has access at 11 months and originally there was no additional days allowed. Disney actually started allowing multiple days in a row to be booked beyond when making your 11 month reservation.

The reason there is no specific rule because you couldn't book further out ahead.

In the end its fairly easy to see the intent is to give everyone equal access at the 11 month mark to book their stay. By walking you actually are circumventing the 11 month window as you are actually booking your stay days or months prior.

Okay, my 1 change would be there should be a hierarchy. Members who contribute their dues to that resort should get their request filled before someone who does not.

See, I’d like them to stop taking requests and have it be room ready and you can change your assigned room unless there is a specific issue with it.

And if DVC wants to be clarify the wording and add the limitation that doing it results in cancel, etc, they can.

That’s what I think j everyone is waiting on…for the board to update rules that actually make it explicitly against the rules.

So this doesn’t turn into a walking thread, let’s move away from it and come back to it when and if DVC makes a move.

The reason you can’t see transfers is because those points are not owned by the membership.

They are on a temporary contract housed in your account,..so they can’t show them on the dashboard you are not an owner of that contract.
But there still could be a way they would show up in a different 'box' that is obvious they were transferred. You should be able to SEE (and use them) in my opinion. Very annoying and unnecessary like you're being punished for not buy more points. I'm old. I do not want to invest into any more contracts.

What if it’s when you check in, they show you on like a digital map what rooms are available and you can select which room you’d like? In green means currently ready, blue means will become available later and red means booked up.

You can see them when you go to use them. You can’t use them online until 7 months, but calling works.

And, I’m pretty sure it’s to prevent the system from using OTU points at their home resort.

I agree I think it is intentionally confusing

Personally, I think allowing them leads to disappointment.

The one hiccup with DVC though is that you have cash rooms that have different check in times so that has to be dealt with.

If they can find a system that doesn’t have someone sitting there at 4;00 pm waiting when there are rooms ready that aren’t being given because it fulfilled a request.

Now, if they had a system where you could change from rooms still not given after the 4 pm, then that might be doable.

Oh and to go along with the app, I would like to be able to save searches so that I don't have to re-enter dates, resorts, and room types each time.
I love the idea of an app!

Speaking of the website does anyone know how we can access the chat feature WITHOUT logging off? The chat button doesn't pop up unless I'm completely logged off and then I have to provide all my membership info and its more time consuming
