What is the Nick hotel like? How are the pools? Lifeguard supervision?Rooms? Is there still a free breakfast? Thanks

We spent two nights there in July before moving over to Disney. The kids loved it. The pools are like mini water parks and there are a lot of "Nick" activities there during the day. THe staff was really friendly. THe only problem I had at all was that I called before I left to ask about life vest for my 5 year old and they assured me that they had them. Well they didn't have enough and they don't sell swimmies so that kind of put me off.

THe kids loved the rooms. They had a bunk bed Fairly Odd Parents room and they thought it was great. THe room was spotless. We were in the lagoon pool section in the back over looking the lake and we couldn't hear any noice. We could also see some of the Epcot fireworks from our balcony.

The food is not good. THey have a food court with an A&W and Pizza Hut which is okay but gets old fast. We went to the character breakfast and the buffet and didn't think the food was too good at either although the kids enjoyed the character meal. The lunch and dinner buffets were kids eat free but not the character breakfast. The kids loved the "slime time" drinks at the pool.

At night they had entertainment - but make sure you sign up early because the tickets to out fast. The entertainment is free. I think its a great place to stay if you just want to take advantage of the hotels "Nick" theme.

SimonV and I just toured Nick two days ago and were highly impressed by the services on offer. The rooms got '10 our of 10!' from all three of our boys (ages 7-12), and the water features (pool and play areas) were a huge hit. All three boys said the giant bucket that dumps water on you makes Nick their 'favorite hotel', all by itself.

It is definitely a childrens resort, with face painting, balloon animals, child-sized salon, and (of course) a giant arcade in the back lobby area. There was a rowdy game of Bingo going on (supervised by a Nick staff member who was calling out the numbers and encouraging the children to yell as loud as possible if their card had that number) and many of the children were happily chasing the colorful light projections on the floor, which move around the back lobby and make for a fun, if illusive, target for stamping on. And then there are the 'mascots' (Spongebob characters, etc).............!!

We think it's a terrific resort, especially if you are going to spend some time out of the parks. It really is a destination unto itself. And somehow, against all odds, the color scheme works. Who would have thought a lime-green shower curtain would add character rather than viciously jar you awake in the morning?

I am also wondering about the Nick Hotel. My kids are dying to go there since they've seen the commercials, so I went to the website to check it out and booked it for November 2005. I have been reading all the posts about the hotel on this website. One thing I haven't seen answered is how are the rooms decorated? In the pictures on the website, it looks like the twin bed kid room has 2 walls painted with character theming, where the bunkbed room looks like it only has 1? Even the hotel operator cannot seem to answer this question for me! My kids love Spongebob and I have paid extra to get a Spongebob room and booked the twin because that is the "picture" they liked on the website! Also, is there a big difference between the "king" and the "queen" for the other room? The pool area looks like it will be great at this hotel and has gotten pretty good comments. My DH never likes the food at most of the Disney resorts, either, so I'm not worried about that-we will just go offsite to eat-we are renting a car. Also, it appears that this hotel is close to Disney, so will it be easy to drive in and out? We are going on a 7 night Disney cruise when we leave this hotel and need another hotel when we come back. I have been debating whether to book this same hotel or not. I wanted to stay at Disney but the prices seem alot higher than last November when we were. I can't seem to find a good rate for Moderate or Deluxe. The kids like the slides! We also have 3 kids, so we're a family of 5, which limits the Disney hotels. Thanks in Advance!

JenCav5,

First, I will try to answer your questions about the room decor.

The living room area is nothing "offensive". It is just a "plain" scheme you can live with. The king bedroom is pretty much taken up by the bed and a side "dresser" area that has a mirror - sort of a place to get ready in the morning - and a closet. I had to iron some clothes, and there was room to set up an ironing board.

Our bunkbed room had one theme wall and the rest were plain as I recall. This room is rather small and has a curtain as a seperator from the rest of the rooms.

If you stay here before your cruise, I would not stay again after. Although I totally agree with the other posters that is is VERY kid oriented/friendly, enough is enough at least for me after a couple of days. My kids, on the other hand, could stay for a month, but for me, I had my fill after 48 hours.

I will agree that the food is pretty yukky as well and for that reason alone, unless you have a car, two or three days would be plenty.

The pool/slide areas are GREAT and they are very well-manned with lifeguards. There are also little sandwich shops next to each where you can get a quick snack or sandwich, hot dog and such.

There are also "bars" at each, where you can get an adult beverage.

Oh, and yes, it will be very easy to drive in and out. The entrace to WDW is about 2 minutes away.

Overall a great place for kids.

What are the rates like there? I was just wondering as I heard it was pretty expensive. My DD6 asks everytime she sees it on TV if we can go there sometime. Just curious what kind of rates you guys paid, if you don't mind sharing... :grouphug:

3for Me - Thanks for the info!

Familyfirsttimer - I booked our room for the last couple days of Oct and beginning of Nov 2005,for a week, and I got it for $198 and $184 for the Sunday/Monday for a Spongebob room. My kids would be disappointed if we didn't get Spongebob, so I spent the extra to get it. I was told by reservations that there was no chance you could get Spongebob with the regular rate. The other rooms were $180/$166. All these rates I mentioned were the AAA rates or Advance Purchase rates, otherwise, it was higher. According to the Disney calendar, these dates are regular season, also, not value. With hotels, different times of year usually do determine the cost.

Try asking about the mousesavers rate. I think that is suppose to be pretty good

We stayed there November 2004 for a week. It was great !!!

The previous posters have described the room to a tee !!.

When we stayed they had a free buffet breakfast, which is no longer offered. The food is just OK, but it is fairly cheap and the kids will eat for free. Its fine for a night or two, but you will want to explore other dining places.

The good news is that we enjoyed it so much, we re going back next week.

Can't wait to get there, we fly out on Fiday morning.

jobie61 - Thanks! Post about the hotel when you get back! I'd love to hear about it, as we aren't going until November! Have a great trip!

Hey thanks justloveit.

As you know my wife is friggin nuts about Disney and the Nick Hotel. We'll see you down there.

My 5 yr old DS loves Jimmy Neutron. How do we request a certain theme? Even tho after I saw the prices for May 2006 on the website I thought we can stay at ASMo for so much cheaper (and have money left over).

I believe you just call and ask them for a Jimmy Neutron room.

I know the charge more for the spongebob room.

Also, keep checking the rates. They will vary depending on how many rooms they have booked. I got a rate of 133.00 per weeknight for next week and 166.00 per night for the weekend.

Good luck !

Hi,
I am booked for the first week of Dec. Because we were there last year we got 25% of the price. I'm paying $138.00 a night for the kidsuit. All I did was call and tell them that I had heard that since I had been there last year I would get a discount..They gave it to me for three rooms....
The rest of my family was thrilled with the price too.

Has anyone used the kids spa? What was it like? How were the prices? Was it easy to get in or do you need a reservation? Also, has anyone had their daughters hair braided? If so, what was the cost, how was the quality and did they last? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

I just reserved two nights on 12/11 to 12/13 and got a AAA rate of $166 a night for a 2B kidsuite (Fairly Odd Parents theme). The AAA rate is lower than the mousesavers rate and cancellation terms are more leanient. Does anybody knwo if they check to see if you stayed last year in order to get the 25% discount. I'd love to pay $133 instead of $166.

We stayed a few years ago when it was still Holiday Inn Family Suites. I thought the pool and rooms were great at that time.

My concern is that when we stayed previously we payed $94 entertainment rate one trip, and $109 the other.

Has anyone stayed when it was the Family Suites and now when it's the Nick hotel? My daughter would like to stay there again, especially now since it's Nick. However I'm having a hard time spending the extra $50+/night. What's different now to make it worth the extra money? Is it only the theming or did they do major reconstruction and improve everything? Anyone know?

From what I understand , the pool area is basically a waterpark now and decor is much more fun looking.

Chrisann is right, check out the website, www.nickhotel.com

Also there are Nick style activities by the pool, Nick and Nick Jr. characters, and a nighttime Slimetime Live type show. On the flip side, no more free breakfast (for adults). Kids still eat free with a paying adult, but I thnk it's only at the buffets, not in the food court anymore. I'm sure someone else can confirm.
