When I was an area manager for Dillards men's wear the most common sizes were 34X32 and 36X32. These two sizes were always stocked heavier than any other size.

Way back when I would cover the mens dept. the most common sizes were 40/30 & 42/30. These seems to be the sizes I see stocked most when I shop for my dh now too.

Those seem like odd sizes to be so popular given those guys would be short and wide!

My DH is 5'10" and weighs around 215, he is 40/30. He really doesn't look that wide or short.

I'm 6'2" and in most jeans I was 40/30 or 40/32 at 275 pounds (inseams vary from brand to brand), and when I was 210 pounds I was in 38's.

DH wears a 34x30, and I also chose other since DS13 wears a 28x32.

DH is 5'8", DS13 is almost 5'10'. DS really needs a smaller waist because he is only 128 lbs, but he thinks he looks too "Justin Beiber skinny jeans." LOL He wears them a little big with a belt.

In college I worked in the men's jeans department. Younger men mostly wore 34s. Older men usually wore 36s.

My husband is in his 40s & wears a 36 x 34, 35 waist when I can find them.

That pretty well sums it up. DS25 is 6'1" and wears a 34x32. DH wore a 34x32 for the longest time, but after 30 years of marriage he wearing a 36x32. He also has lost about 2" in height. I guess I wore him down.

I think those sizes you list are going to be the minority. They are quite small waist sizes for men. My DH is 6ft, 200 lbs and wears a 36x32. He's what i'd consider average sized.
My 14 year old wears a 28x30. He's 5ft6, 130 lbs.

28x32 when I can find them. Very few places still sell anything less than 30.

Actually, unless he is extremely muscular, I would garner he is either overweight or borderline obese being 6' and 200 pounds depending on the BMI calculator you use. I don't mean this in a negative way, but it's part of the rising trend in obesity and "acceptance" of what is average and normal weight. For a 6' Male, his ideal weight should be sub 180, again, excluding those who are very athletic or have a very large muscular build.

He's a construction worker, he's fit and definitely not obese, but thanks for the concern.

DH wears a 33 X 32, not too bad considering he is almost 64 years old.

DH wears a 34x34.

DS14 wears a 28x32 (tall and skinny as a bean).

5' 11" and 150 and I wear 32 x 32. I have grown quite a bit since college when I was a 30 x 32-that was in 1975.

DH is a 38x29. He is 5'8", but has short legs.

DS16 is a 30x34. He is 5'11" and is all legs.

Guess it's just how the body carries weight.

Do you have short legs? I'm about 6'5 and am surpised that you could have worn a 30 only being a few inches shorter than me.

Of course you were also 15 lbs lighter and wore a jean size 2 inches wider than me.
