What is the most annoying thing you have experienced another guest doing at Disney?

Every time one of these threads comes up and people start talking about those who cut in line for rides, parades, etc., I think of this scene from Dead Like Me:

The most annoying thing I ever witnessed was at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in 2012. My family and I had seats in Frontierland waiting for the parade to start. The family next to me had a little boy around 8 years of age. He started complaining that his stomach hurt. His parents told him that he was fine. He kept insisting that he didn't feel well, but they didn't really pay much attention. Then it happened. He got sick. Now, you would think that his parents would take him home, right? Nope. They pulled out a poncho, put it over the vomit, and had him sit right back down. Oh, but they did give him some baby wipes to clean up his shirt. Poor thing sat through the whole parade looking miserable. :(

The mom who decided to wash her sons diarrhoea soaked legs and shorts in the splash pad. It was EVERYWHERE and you could smell it a mile off!

The result? Splash pad shut down for two hours in the height of summer whilst the water was disinfected and the CMs scrubbed the area by hand.

Seriously.

Thanks for all the replies about my DD!

This was the absolute worst experience at WDW I have ever had. It was so hurtful .... very awkward for the other passengers on the bus.

I wanted to say alot but decided to use what happened as a lesson to my children when we got off the bus. Its about 5 years ago now but from time to time someone will bring it up. Then we move on and talk about all our happy Disney memories! :)

Two years ago my family had an incident at DAK that is still talked about to this day...My fiance, his cousin, my mother and I had just spent 3 hours on the Wild Africa Trek tour and were absolutely exhausted, and we stopped to get a drink at the Dawa bar. I went up to the bar to look at the menu and to get everyone's drinks. After a few minutes the bartender took my order, and while I was waiting a woman comes up to me screaming that she watched me cut all these people in line, and that she hates jerks like me (along with a fair amount of expletives.) I felt terrible that I was so out of it that I honestly never saw a line, because I have never cut purposefully in my entire life, and am usually very considerate of others. I apologized over and over again to the people in line, who were really nice and forgave me quickly, but the drunk woman wouldn't stop yelling. Her husband tried to get her to stop, apologizing to me saying she drank too much and that she was embarrassing him. Finally my mom came over, and the drunk woman started screaming at her, which is when I got so frazzled that I started to cry...in public (really not proud of that - just really protective of my mom!)

After telling her about 15 times that the whole thing was an accident, she finally sat down, then came over to my table 15 minutes later apologizing, saying that "I'm from Jersey and can't keep my mouth shut" (I didn't tell her that my entire family is from NYC, and we don't use it as an excuse to be crazy). My mom forgave her instantly - they eventually hugged it out and it didn't ruin our vacation, but for me, it took a while to shake that negativity off and it's still a story that I'm embarrassed about. I was such a dummy to cut all those people! I do think, however, that there's a difference between ordinarily considerate people making a dumb mistake, and people who like conflict.

We've been very fortunate to really not encounter a lot of rude people at WDW, or else we just don't make particular note of it and move on.

I will say that we were guilty of being the ones in the middle of a row at the American Adventure. We were celebrating our anniversary and the CM at the door noticed and sent us up the "colonial elevator" to the 2nd floor to listen to Voices of Liberty (along with some other groups) and then the CM that ushered us into the theater told us we could pick any seats we wanted to, so we went a little more than halfway across in our row. But, the theater was far from full.

The one negative experience that does stick out in my mind was riding Thunder Mtn at night with my husband (on a no-kids trip). There was a group of young adults in the rows in front of us and one of them 2 rows ahead kept turning around during the ride to take FLASH pictures of the two in the seat directly in front of us. Since it was dark, the flash lit us up unexpectedly and repeatedly. I wound up keeping my eyes closed for the ride. I thought that was very rude.

We have been on the receiving end of nice folks letting our young children in front of them for parades. My kids never really cared a lot about them, so we never stake out spots too far in advance, we try to find a decent (unused) space a few minutes ahead when we do want to watch. We were at MNSSHP two years ago and were planning to watch the 2nd parade, but got caught too close to the start of the first and couldn't cross the street to move on. So we stopped to watch and a nice couple let our youngest, who was dressed as Peter Pan, in front of them to watch. With him right by the rope, Wendy saw him and called out to Peter in the parade, who came over to sword fight with my son. It was a magical moment that we might have missed if that couple hadn't let him stand by them. :) Happily, I think I remember more of those moments than the rude ones.

As a lifelong Jerseyan I assure you we hate this woman as much as you did that day. Sorry that happened to you.

We had been waiting for the next group to go on Ellen's Energy Adventure and finally the doors opened and everyone went inside to get seat in the vehicles. The cast members reminded everyone that they were to remain seated once the ride started several times. The ride started and a woman stood up and shouted that she needed to leave, the cast member announced over the loud speaker that she could not. She climbed over the edge of the vehicle and got out. They stopped the ride/show immediately, the woman left the ride. But, the cast members were unable to restart the ride, everyone had to exit, the ride was shut down for over an hour while they tried to reset it.

I hope she was kicked out of the park

We had a similar situation happen at Chef Mickey. While in the buffet line, a little boy threw up all over tge floor while his mother filled her plate. Did she put her plate down and leave??? Noooo! I was so mortified that she just told him to go sit down. She didn't inform a cast member but kept filling her plate. Guess who was sitting right next to us when we sat down?? That poor thing sat there green as grass the whole time the rest of his family ate.

Oh my goodness. I would have been speechless in the face of this and the other similar story. As my grandmother used to say any time she came across inexplicable behavior like this from adults, "Who raised these people?!?" She might have even thrown in a more colorful word here or there... saucy! ;)

I was just about 5 months pregnant and standing in World Showcase waiting for my hubby to come out of the restroom. A group was walking towards me and one of the men in the group reached out and rubbed my belly. I was too shocked to react.

Just remember that most people pushing those big strollers would much prefer to not be pushing those big strollers. Its not like they're doing it for fun. Or to ruin your day.

We've been to Disney almost regularly on a yearly basis for the last 30 years. . We never understood why people bring those monster truck strollers. They are a pain to lug around and an annoyance to others on the trams, busses and monorails.

We've always bought one of those cheap fold up umbrella strollers that are lightweight and take up almost zero space. Work perfectly fine.

The only thing that comes to mind was the group of kids to talked loudly on their cell phones for the entire duration of the Canada movie. Oh, and they sat of the rails of course :confused3

That's what we used for traveling. Plus those smaller strollers takes up less space in the car, more room for luggage :)

Speaking of strollers, on our last visit my DD was 8. I saw children (able bodied btw) who was older then my DD in a stroller!

My DD more then kept up with us. She soaked her feet in the hot tub with us but she did not need to be a stroller.

I didn't get it. We go back next year we will probably see more of the same thing.

:sad2:

Watched a parent berate a CM at the entrance to Star Tours last year. The man's son was too short for the ride, and despite showing the parent several times that the child didn't meet the height requirement, the man became more and more obnoxious, screaming that the CM was "ruining the entire vacation". It was quite a scene. DH was about to say something when two more CMs showed up to help. After a few minutes' discussion, they decided to let the boy on the ride even though he was too short!

Can't a CM be FIRED for that?

This certainly isn't a "Disney thing" - I just think people are more rude now in general. Class and manners are an "old fashion" kinda thing, now.

Agree. Jerks are one a dozen nowadays.

I was "this close" to beating the crap out of the guy myself but thought that would just be another spectacle at the park and I get taken to Disney Jail myself, so I went and got the manager and they escorted the jackwad out of the park.

Awesome! Everyone loves a happy ending. :goodvibes

I think we all have to keep in mind a few things as we read these stories:

  1. Most folk aren't this rude. It's only a very tiny # of folks that act this way.
  2. They act that way whether they're in Disney, McDonalds, the grocery store, a church or alone in a forest with no one around them for a 100 miles. Jerks are just jerks wherever they may be.
  3. There's ways to deal with them that don't involve jeopardizing your vacation, sanity or safety.
