what is the max you'll pay for an airline ticket?

If it was over say, $275/person...we would look at other options....

$200.00 R/T, direct flight. So far we have been lucky, but like so many others, I have a bad feeling that those fares might be a thing of the past with the AT/SW merger. I am hoping to grab Frontier for next August once they extend their fares out that far. As of right now, I would still be able to fly under $200.00.

When I was in 8th grade, my mom paid something like $800 for a round trip flight on TWA from San Francisco to DC for me.

So whenever I complain about the cost of flights today, I remind myself of that (and how inflation has NOT made air travel insanely expensive), and then feel silly for whining.

Doesn't mean my *wallet* doesn't complain, but my brain tells it to shush b/c it could be so much worse.

It's hard to say what my maximum is. I know I would rather drive than pay $300 RT. I *do* have a "buy price" and it's $230 out of Madison. I live very close to the airport and it's worth a bit more to leave from home than to drive to another airport and park. My "buy price" for Chicago and Milwaukee is under $200.

I'd pay up to $300 out of MKE depending on season and how early I book. I usually get fares under $250.

I couldn't imagine flying coach to go to DLP...way too long of a flight for my tastes.

I flew coach with one stop from Singapore to New York last year. My left leg cramped up during the flight, but otherwise it was ok. And as far as the OP's question, $300 to WDW, $500 to DL, $1000 to DLP, $2000 to TDR, and not sure if HKDL is worth any price right now.

I flew to India last year for work. 3 flights - PIT-IAD-FRA-PNQ (Pune). Business class ticket - around $9,000! 24 hours total incl layovers. Wasn't too bad.

I think the most I've paid for a flight PIT-MCO for vacation was around $300. One time I had a last minute business trip PIT-EWR and it was over $800 and I was only there for 2 hours! That was probably my most expensive domestic ticket.

The most we have paid for a flight to orlando will be this december Burbank to Orlando. We are paying about $400 RT per person. That was the cheapest we could find...and this is before christmas.

My mom paid for my brother and his girlfriend to come out to california for thanksgiving this year. North Carolina to Burbank....$650 per person. Again, the cheapest we could find for them.

My parents paid $350/person to go LAX to North Carolina for my brothers graduation this past May.

So this year alone, we have spent more than $3000 on airfare alone:scared:

$400. I would never drive from Chicago - my time is valuable too and I will not waste it when I can be in Florida in 2 plus hours.

You are right on with that. I drove from Cape Cod to Orlando once and I can't imagine ever doing it again. You burn 2 full days of your vacation plus an additional day to recover once you get there.

Absolute max for me is $300 from Chicago to WDW. More than that, I would seriously consider renting a car and driving down. DF and I actually enjoy long road trips - weird, huh?

We're 1000 miles give or take from Orlando. The cost to drive is :

$1100 there and back ($.55 a mile the real cost not just gas).
$200 hotel
$100 food (eating cheap)
$1400 total.

Plus long drive hang over or add 2 extra days, what are they worth?

$1100 We paid $275 tax tags and bags each ticket for this trip x 4
$250 car rental
$22 mileage to AP @ same rate as above
$100 parking @ AP
$100 food in AP + booze
$20 gas for rental
$1592

No long drive hang over, but can add 2 days to 7 day stay :thumbsup2.

I'll pay 2 times more per seat....... say $500 or so before I look for a different destination due to airfare.
