What is the longest shift you've ever worked?

Not a paying job but 50+ hours a week babysitting 3 grandchildren who were 4 and under at the time and some of those days would end up being 12 hour days. 😩

I work around 50- 60 hours a week for more than a decade. Some days I take it a bit easier, some days I have intense 15 hour days.

From Friday at 8 a.m. to Monday at 4:30 p.m. I would work my standard 8 hour day on Friday, go on-call at the end of the day and through the weekend dealing with any and all emergencies our patient's might have, finishing my on-call hours when I went in for my typical 8 hour day on Monday. If the weekend was particularly rough, they would "try" to give you Monday off, but it didn't happen often.
It was pretty awful even though you could nap between visits. Some weekends were essentially non-stop running from one crisis to another. About two years ago, we changed that schedule to a half-weekend on-call shared between two nurses. It's soooo much better and we don't care that we have to work weekends more frequently (1 full weekend every 6 weeks vs. a half-weekend every 3 weeks) because the sleep and work-life balance is so much better.

As a teacher, I was in the building from 6:30am-4:30pm (not contracted hours, just the hours I put in there). Then at home I'd work around 6:30pm-10pm. This was Monday-Thursday. I didn't work Friday nights. I also worked around 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday. I taught 10th and 12th grade English.

18-19 hours. A vendor came in to do a job (two techs), and ended up taking forever. Because of certain issues, I had to stay there the entire time into the AM. Inconvenient and unprofessional, especially as I have to hear one tech constantly insulting the other guy for incompetence, while other guy kept going on about wanting to go to the casinos. Coupla no-goodnick deadbeats!

What is the longest shift you've ever worked?

12 hours. Really, was scheduled for a 4 hour shift one day. Toward the end of the shift I was asked to take another (8 hour) shift. My understanding was I was just opening another register early for someone else who was scheduled to come in later.

No, they meant - take someone's 8 hour shift who wasn't going to come to work that afternoon.

Longest stretch without a day off - 32 days. Mostly short shifts, but still exhausting.

During a critical system failure I didn't leave the office for anything, not even to grab food, for about 50 hours. Food was brought in for my team while we powered through. I took about a 30 minute nap at my desk.

Parent-teacher conference season in a nutshell!
Wow. Teachers here are union and the week of parent teacher conferences are all half days. Conferences from Noon to 4 pm, so within normal work hours. And now parents have the option of doing them via Zoom.

I've done a 50 hr stretch during an event my husband was running. We kept having people not show up for shifts. It was BAD by the end of it, though. I'm not sure I could have even told you what my name was. Then, I got to sleep for like 5 hours and one of the people that did show up went into labor and I had to get back up and finish her shift.
