We LOVE the AK and are thinking of attending it for the late EMH. Has anyone done this and if so, can you tell me what it is like, what attractions are open (or not open), crowds and anything else that could help?

THANKS, in advance.

For the most part, the 'inside' attractions like TTBAG and Dinosaur were open. Primeval Whirl was open. The trails started closing down when it got dark though. We did the EMH night at AK in June. It was really nice to see AK in the dark. I think that was my favorite part of it.

we have done it twice and it was really nice. everything was walk on or a 5 minute wait. when you did come across a character there was only a few people in line if any. this is the best park for emh in the evening, hardly anyone is there. if you go to allears.net it will tell you all the rides and shows that are open. one thing we noticed though was there weren't alot of places open for you to eat at, so i would eat before you go.

I also LOVE AK, and as has been said, there's hardly anyone there for EMH, so you can really wander around. When I was there in August, Pizzafari and FTBBQ were open until 7:00 (park closed at 5:00), but Tusker house was closed. There was a CM at the entrance to Camp Minnie-Mickey at 5:00, so no one was let down there without wrist-bands. I'd imagine the characters down there might be pretty easy to get time with. I loved wandering on the Discovery Island Trails. Kali was a walk-on. I waited for Triceratop Spin about 5 minutes. Kilamanjaro Safari about the same.

Is it is as crowded as the other parks when they have EMH? It just seems like a lot of people discount this park, but we love it. I was thinking the morning EMH would be great at AK since the animals would probably be more active. What are everyone's experiences with this?

Thanks.

My favorite time to go to AK!!! I love EMH in the morning there. It's still comfortable and cool, not a lot of people yet. I tend to not do AK if I can't do an EMH in the a.m.

We did the evening EMH at AK this summer. It was actually teh only park we did any EMH in. AK is one of my kids favorite parks and they loved the extra tiem riding the safari ( was open an extra hour or so). Triceratops spin and The Tarzan show.

What's it like? Totally cool! And NOT crowded! It can also get pretty dark but they do have some lights and the TOL is lit. I enyoyed just walking and taking it all in while the rest of the family did Kali. One family they met had ridden Kali 8 straight times without getting off!!

DH and I were at AK in January for a night EMH, and LOVED it! It was so peaceful. And riding Primeval Whirl at night was so cool! In fact, we rode it about 10 times. Our dilemma on our upcoming Oct trip is that we will be joining friends - EMH night at AK is on a Tuesday, the friends are leaving Wednesday morning... and they don't have hopper passes. Our plan is for Epcot the entire day that day... so, do we ditch 'em and go on over to AK? :) We are seriously considering it.

It was not crowded AT ALL, but it was January after all. Since AK closes at 5 normally, we had never seen it at night. You'll love it.

17-1/2 more days!  :bounce: :cheer2:

I have never noticed a difference in animal activity based on time of day. Some of our best Safari rides have been in the afternoon. I took the Wild By Design tour and the guide said they take steps to keep the animals active all day. He said the idea that you have to rush straight to Kili in the morning is a myth, and people miss out on other cool morning stuff because of it.

We did the Evening EMH at Animal Kingdom on Sept 27. There was an additional showing of Festival of the Lion King and one of Tarzan Rocks. The Safari ran until 6:15. There were 2 places to meet characters, and they were there for the duration of EMH. Kali River Rapids were open, and there was no line, so you were able to stay on for ride after ride. Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Triceratop Spin & the Boneyard were all open. The Flame Tree BBQ was open until 7PM. It was peaceful & quiet, and we really enjoyed it. We did the safari in the afternoon & again at night. The Lions were asleep & hard to see in the afternoon, but awake & active at night. This was the only real difference we saw in animal activity.

we did night EMH when we were there 9/9 thru 9/16, can't remember what night it was. My kids were very disappointed! As mentioned before, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Triceratop, Boneyard, and Kali were open. My dd's are not ready for dinosaur and to short for primeval, and I didn't tell them about Kali since I didn't want to get soaked again. Camp Minnie/Mickey was closed, there were no other character meet places set up. We got there between 6-6:30. I think there had been an earlier showing of Lion King and Tarzan, around 5-5:15. That was it.

We had planned on seeing the shows and my kids really wanted to ride the safari and finish getting their books stamped. If I had known nothing would be open we would of planned another day and skipped the evening. People were choosing to leave before they entered, after the cm's at the turnstiles told them what was actually open. Unfortunately, it was one of our last nights and I'd purposely not planned another day since I thought we could do everything at night with no lines. Oh well, now we know for next time.
