Just curious....I drove my Nissan until it was about 105,000 and it was still running fine....So whats the highest milage you have had or know of on a car that is still running great?

We had a 1987 Volvo 240 DL with over 205,000 miles on it, and it still ran great. As a matter of fact, now my grandma drives it, and I think it's got over 215,000 miles on it.

A friend of mine had well over 200K miles on a Corolla... it ran great but it was too rusty so he got rid of it.

A friend's brother had a Civic with about 175K and it ran great. He got a new job and sold the car for a newer one just because he could afford it :)

My brother has a Civic with about 300,000 miles on it. It's still going strong, too!!

I have 110K on my Saturn. Haven't had any major repairs and it still goes fine.

It's getting a little small for us now that the girls are bigger but will keep driving it until it dies if I can :)

We sold our 1990 Volvo 240 DL when it had 133,000 miles on it. Our friends bought it and now have 152,000--still going strong & it looks good too.

My dad had a Toyota pickup that had over 300,000 miles on it. We kept teasing him that we were going to put him in one of their commercials.

Please tell me someone else remembers those commercials. If not I will feel very, very old.

I put about 107,000 on my old cavalier. It was still running fine when our family outgrew a 2 door vehicle. My SO's brother bought it, and it went downhill with him within a month after he got it. I've heard Nissans and Toyotas will last for a very, very long time.:)

LOL! How about Al Bundy's car?:p Didn't he roll that old Dodge to a million miles or so?:p

What a fun topic. LOL
We have an uncle who drives a car that's going on 200,000 miles, but sorry, I don't know the type of vehicle.

Also, our last taxi driver to the BWV's was telling us that his own car was just hitting the 300,000 mile mark with nary a repair!
I believe it was a Toyota something-or-other. :p

I knew someone who had a Volvo with nearly 300,000 miles on it.

I had a cavalier with 125K.

I had a Ford Granada with over 200K.

My DF bought an Oldsmobile Delta 88 in 1979 that had 7 miles on it when he drove it off the lot. I got the car to drive when I moved to Sun Valley, ID in 1986 (he got my firebird) anyway he died suddenly in 1987 and I kept the car. It had 160,000 miles on it when we traded it for a Taurus. I really loved that car and didn't want to part with it. It ran great but it was developing some rust problems. It was the only car I ever had that never had a single dent, scratch or scrape.

I had a Subaru that had 354,000 miles on it before the engine died. It was a still a good car and went another 100,000 on a used engine before my mechanice told me it had led a good life and to let it go lol

I've had Ford and Chevy before and they putter out around 150,000. That is way too soon for a major repair IMO

I have a Taurus with 218,000 miles on and it still going strong with no major repairs ever...knocking on wood here..

My 1991 Ford Areostar has about 200,000 miles on it.
It's our "back up" car now. I love that van.

Our 1966 Mustang has over 300,000 on it....kind of hard to tell exactly, it's been through many owners.

WOW..that is great for a Ford. I had a Taurus that ran great till someone hit it. Then it went downhill quick.

ok...

Our 69 Skylark has 146,000

My Wagon has 242,000 on the motor/179,000 on the car itself (this motor came out of our Cutlass at 223,000 miles :) )

And the wagon's motor, now in the Cutlass, has 160,000

Highest mileage I've ever heard of, was a friend's Limo Company vehicle....a 1978 Olds Regency 98, it had 420,000 miles when he retired it from the company and took it home for personal use. I have no idea how far it went after that :)

My brother has an Altima with well over 200K on it.

The highest milage car that I have ever heard of though was a guy who has a Toyota. He has 999K miles on it and wrote to Toyota offering to do a commercial for them (for $$$ of course). He I think was keeping it garaged to see if they would accept his offer.

We have 117,000 miles on our big old Buick Roadmaster station wagon. The woodgrain decals are peeling from the sides & it could use a paint job but it still runs great and has the route to DisneyWorld memorized!

I have a 92 Lumina right now that has 185,xxx miles on it. It has never missed a beat starting and only had the usual things replaced....water pump, alternator, oil changes, tires, etc. However, it does have a very small oil leak right now and the guy that changed it last time told us it's getting to the point we need to decide what to do. I just hate the thought of a car payment and I drive 100 miles round trip a day, so the thought of putting out big money for a car only to run the wheels off makes me sick to my stomach.

My 1991 Subaru Legacy has 268,000 on it right now. I love that car...

It ain't pretty - that's for sure - but it starts every morning and always gets me where I need to go. I'd tell you I haven't needed any major repairs, but I'm afraid I'll jinx myself.

Daisy;)
