what is the funniest/weirdest rumor you heard about wdw?

One of the headless singers in the haunted mansion os Walt himself. Not true. It's actually an imagineer.

I thought the head that most people think might be Walt is actually Thurl Ravencroft.

heard one guy liked madam leona in haunted mansion and got out of the doom buggy hopped over the wall and fell like into the grave yard scene trying to touch madam leona haha

Actually, to exit the DoomBuggy at the seance area would be a rude awakening: A 12' drop straight down. This is the only portion of the ride track elevated to this height. Also, he would not have fallen into the grave yard scene, but rather a store room.

We heard (from a CM no less) that they were going to connect the monorail to the Orlando airport. They can't even connect the other two parks, how are they going to connect the airport? :rotfl:

I once heard that they were going to have a resort inside the magic kingdom. How convienent would that be. Don't think it is real, but that would be cool. Walking out and being inside the park. Wow.

At roughly $1,000,000 per mile, it is indeed unlikely.

The "roughly $1,000,000 per mile" number is an untrue Internet rumor itself! If Disney could expand the monorail for so little money per mile, they would already have done so.

The new Las Vegas Monorail cost $654 million for just 4.4 miles. It uses the same Bombardier technology and the same kind of track as the WDW Monorail.

I'm sure that the monorail developers in Las Vegas did everything they could to keep costs as low as possible. I assume the costs in Las Vegas refer to a double track, all stations, all trains, and the cost of fitting the system into an existing built-up area. So, at WDW, the cost per mile would probably be lower, especially for a loop track instead of a double track.

Just think how much a mile-long concrete and steel structure would cost to build. That's a lot of concrete and steel. And the beams have to be able to carry the weight of the trains. The trains must be many millions of dollars each. Yes, the cost is staggering. But I guess it costs what it costs!

A monorail is a huge capital expense that does not generate direct revenue. Sure, a monorail expansion could reduce bus fleet expenses. And, for guests, a monorail adds to the "magic" of a WDW vacation. But it's still hard to justify, even if WDW could hold the costs under $75 million per mile.

That occasionally people went missing on the Small World ride...

I don't think the monorail rumor was false, I remember reading an article about it on Coasterbuzz.com not that long ago. Apparently the other parks hated the idea because the resort complex already keeps so many in Disney property the entire time they are there.

That someone fell out of California screaming and got crushed by the rollercoaster

I love this rumore (its true) about George.. I cannot wait to hear from him on POTC.. he died during construction and if you say " I dont believe in george" or CM dont say goodmorning, and goodnight to him the ride will break down

ya we tried it at the seen were the skeleton is driving the ship it didn't work then my cuz at the end yelled it and the boats got jammed up

You know, that is not far from reality but I dont think it could be that way now. The MK is not large enough to house a resort inside it. Disney's California Adventure has the Grand Californian inside the park.

Actually the GC is built alongside of DCA with an enterance directly into the park. When I read "inside the park" I picture the resort being totally surrounded by the park, really being inside.

I believe they could build a resort on the outer parimeter of MK similar to GC. I wouldn't want them too, but I think it could be done.

It wasn't going to be a Disney Monorail, it was supposed to be a high-speed train line. You are correct in stating that the other parks hated it.

I firmly believe that every day a few people riding It's a Small World experience such intense cranial pressure build-ups that their heads explode. The proof? I stopped riding it years ago and I still have an intact skull... I think...

Yeh, the monorail/high speed train thing from the airport was considered for a while. Disney was trying to get the local and state governments to foot the bill, and that never got close to happening. True, the other parks would have suffered, but more so the local "off property" economy.

There were (are?) plans for one ultra exclusive suite inside the Castle. It would have been used as the "Honey Moon Suite" for high priced Disney wedding extravaganzas. And for anyone who had more money that M.E.
