I have read about special dinners with several courses and discussions about wine pairing, etc. We have little ones so that isn't an option for us, but I also caught a glimpse about food booths around the lake? Is this something we can do and if so what are some details about it like the kinds of food offered, cost, etc.?

It is a lot of fun and food is a sampling of traditional ethnic dishes. I do not really remember the exact dishes but they were very good. About 2.00-4.00. I beleive each country has a booth. There is wine and beer from each country as well. I love to eat around the world.

You didn't say when you would be at WDW

INTERNATIONAL FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL
OCT 18-NOV 16
EPCOT

Hope the dates help.....:Pinkbounc

Disnee Dad Says........................................Not only are the countries of WS there, there are booths for another 30 or so countries. You get little samples of food that tend to run from $2.00 to $4.00. You'll find new food to enjoy, somewhere around the lake!
First trip, tried crab cakes for the first time. I am a crab fiend, dungeness, snow as an alternative. Cooking crab in flower and stuff sounded gross when you need to pay $25.00 for it at a restaurant. But for $3.00, I'll prove that they will wreck the taste of the crab! I was sooo wrong, 8,743 cakes later, that one cake was worth the whole trip.
Second trip, cheddar cheese soup. I mean come on, cheese soup? But for $2.00, I'll prove you can't make a soup out of cheese. I was sooo wrong, it was great.
Then you try ribs in Germany, noodles in China, quesadillas in Mexico, Sangria from Spain, Baklava from Greece, Udon from Japan, maybe a whine from France!
Even if you skip all the tasteings and dinners, you will have a great time!!!

I remember a few years ago my parents were attending a wine tasting that a couple of fairly famous wine makers were meant to attend.

Thing was... they didn't turn up because of a huge thunderstorm, which caused a lot of traffic problems. Basically, to keep the few people who had turned up happy, the CM who was there cracked open the many bottles of wine that they had lined up for "tasting" and everyone just started knocking back a lot of free wine!

I came back later to find a couple of rather merry parents... Thank god for WDW transport.

The wine and food festival is one of our favoirite times to go to wdw. Its a great way to try new things and eat a quick snack or lunch on the go. We usually go to Germany for the kids as they love the Bratwurst, so it keeps them happy while we try different things.

They're more nibbles than full on meal items... although it's perfectly acceptable to much your way round the world of an evening to make a very diverse dinner!

The samples range in price from $1 to $3. Some are just merely a taste, while others are more substantial. Food and Wine is one my "can't miss" events. We have lots of info for this years event on the site CLICK HERE

My husband and I trade off with the kids. One person attends one of the tastings, and the other person does rides with the kids. One year there was a plaster painting station and I had trouble getting my kids away even after my DH's wine seminar was over. You could also try attending one of the tastings or dinners and drop the kids at one of the resort hotel kid's clubs. The Yacht and Beach club is close, drop the kids there and take a boat over to Epcot for some adult time, if you are staying at WDW. Pete's link also has lots of info about childcare options. Over the years my kids have tried most of them and adored them all. It is now expected that they get to do some kind of club and we adults must find something to do, too.

Ha! Disnee Dad... you make me laugh! I am all about the food and when I found out that we were going to be at WDW during the F&W Festival I was so excited! I don't know why it is that we tend to be more adventurous about food when on vacation but we sure are. We, too, have made so many wonderful discoveries when on trips.

My dh says one of his fondest memories of our honeymoon was his discovery of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. To this day I have never tried it but it's still his favorite - almost 15 years later!

My DH and I attended the Food and Wine Festival during our honeymoon in 1998. Of course, we had to sample wines and interesting food tidbits from each different country. Needless to say, by the end of the afternoon, we were feeling pretty good....up until trying the borscht (sp) and then getting on a bus back to our resort.. not a good choice! It was a very early night :)
