What is the fastest time you have waited for a table without having an ADR?

In December 2004 at the very last minuite my Dad & I decided to go have dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse, without an ADR. Since we were already staying at the Contemporary waiting for a table would not be bad because it's not like we had to catch a Disney Bus later on in the evening. Anyway we went like 2 or 3 days before Christmas & we got to the podium for around 7:15 PM. The Cast Member said our wait would be 20-25 minutes. We then realized we had forgot something in our room & since we time before our table would be ready we went back up there for a quick second. While we were in our room our pager is going off & I screamed our table is ready. I was shocked because we were told the pagers would not work in the rooms & we did not expect our table to be ready so fast. Maybe it's because we were only a party of 2 that we got seated so fast, or there may have been a cancellation from a party of 2 people with an ADR. Anyway I say we waited 5 minutes for our table to be ready.

Now I am asking all of you, what is the shortest time you have waited for a table to be ready at any WDW restaurant when not having an ADR?

At Rose and Crown, 50's Prime Time, Kona Cafe, and probably a few others I've been seated with no wait at all- just a minute to get menus and directed toward my table.

Just wanted to add: all were for a party of two for a late lunch (1-3 pm)

I've walked right in a couple of times at Coral Reef, Sci-Fi, Garden Grille, and CP without ADR's. All times were slightly off from peak dining times, like 2:00 for lunch or a little past 4 for dinner. Shortest wait at a peak time was Coral Reef at 6 PM, waited about 10 minutes. all were off-season.

There have been times that we are immediately seated without an ADR. Although it is getting harder to do that now. We also tend to get to most places early so crowds aren't a problem yet.

Do what I do.....from your cell phone, call dining about 30 minutes prior to when you want to eat and set up your ADR..........then you have one. Works like a charm usually, and if not.......then you KNOW you will be waiting and they can help you chose another place to eat with an ADR.

The only two I have dared try were Kona for breakfast (around 9:30 ish) and Sci Fi for lunch (right when they opened so it was 11-11:30 am). Got in both with around 5 minute waits. We were a party of 4 and this was in December 2005.

During our December 2004 trip, we only had luck at Wolfgang Puck's. We walked right in. It was really good, but we have one near home so it wasn't as fun. We had only made 1 ADR (Sci Fi) and weren't really familiar with the system at that time and were really disappointed when we couldn't get into anywhere at Epcot.

:rolleyes1

We have certainly learned since then... :rotfl:

Ive gotten into Alfredo's for lunch with no ADR (this was in September or 2001 right after 9/11 and in April of 05)

The race car themed restaurant in city walk for lunch in April of 05 had no wait.

In the past LTT for lunch, Yahtsman Galley, (not the $ one, the other one) and Kona Cafe were all walk in places. Now with the dining plan most places for at least dinner aren't walk up any more. Lunch I bet would be better, because if people wanted to get bang for their buck dinner cost more then lunch.

Oh I forget to add captian Jacks in DTD too.

Last week our party of 4 walked right into Chefs de France at about 1:30 with no ADR. I know it was a fluke. :artist:

Last fall we walked into Sci Fi for lunch without ADRs and it was PACKED. We had no ADRs, but we were seated right away in a 'saucer' in the back. There was a minumum 30 minute wait for those with ADRs who wanted to sit in a car.

:surfweb:

Walked right in and got seated at the Plaza. :)

But I wouldn't try that again, the place was pretty busy. :)

In Dec of 04 a friend and I went to Boma for breakfast. This was about 10:15 maybe, and we went to the podium to put our name in. They gave us a beeper and we barely took 2 steps away from the podium and it went off. :rotfl:

December 03 we were staying at the CR, my cousin had flown in after midnight from Italy and the kids were actually up and ready to go in the AM after a few hours of sleep. We decided to just see if we could get lucky and walked up, all 7 of us, to the hostess at Chef Mickey's and the only "wait" we had was for the photographer to take the picture. They seated us at a big table by the window, the kids' first view of the castle ever. The place was packed too - I have no idea how there was that one big table open.
