What is the Fantasmic dinner? and how do I book it?

The fantasmic Dinner is actually called the Fantasmic dinner package. It allows you to get a ticket for allocated seating for the fantasmic show so that you do not have to sit and wait for up to 2 hours to guarantee a seat for Fantasmic and can just turn up 40 minutes before. You also have your own entrance to fantasmic instead of herding in with the masses.

To get the special ticket you must eat dinner at one of the following 3 restaurants: Hollywood and Vine (buffet), Mama Melrose (italian) or Hollywood Brown Derby (upscale). Your dinner must be prebooked with disney dining as a fantasmic dinner package and not just a normal ADR, as the price structure is a little different for the package.

We have done the Fantasmic dinner package in Hollywood and Vine and Mama Melrose. The Buffet in H and V is really nice with a wide variety and a great dessert buffet. The meal in Mama Melrose is fantastic! We were a table of two and we had (set menu) bread with a dipping sauce, then a large salad bowl to share, a flatbread Pizza (choice of two) to share then you choice of main course. I had sausage in pasta and My Husband had wood fired chicken pasta, and it was lovely, we had no room for dessert!

Keep in mind you don't need the package to see Fantasmic. You can get better seats by heading into the theater about an hour ahead of showtime. I've never gotten a bad seat even in the dead of summer that way. I did the dining package once and didn't like the seats, which were far off to the right side of the theater. We left the "reserved" aread and got seats in the front row just slightly left of center. We haven't done the package since. I wouldn't bother with the package unless you are planning on eating at one of the restaurants anyway.

We just got back, and did the Fantasmic package with H & V. We enjoyed the buffet and the service. I thought our seats at Fantasmic were great, especially since we walked up 5 minutes before it was starting!!!! We would have been standing up if we did not have the reserve seating. I personally would hate to have to sit and wait 1-2 hours for the show to start. The show is awesome, but with reserve seating you don't have to rush as much. Besides, there is no additional cost for the dinner package, and you are going to have to eat dinner somewhere anyway.

You are instructed to arrive earlier than 5 minutes (more like 30-45 minutes) before the show starts, even with the package.

I have a question. I have ADR at Brown Derby at 4pm - Fantasmic dinner package. Fantasmic starts at 7:30. Assume dinner takes 1.5 hours. That still leaves us 2 hours waiting on it to start. SO, do we have to wait in the threatre for it to start or can we leave and come back? I'm confused. Can anyone shed some light? TIA

Dinner is at a restaurant. The show takes place in an amphitheater behind TOT. You have dinner and then do whatever you want until about 45 minutes before showtime. At dinner, they give you a pass for the back door entrance. Then you are supposed to show up at a gate near the front entrance (between Oscar's Garage and the restrooms) and they will take your pass and let you begin the very long walk to the theater.

I've actually sat in the middle--"front and center"--and have had a reserved seat with the Fantasmic dinner package. I didn't find the views significantly different. You still have the water screen, the fireworks, the island, and the characters parading by you. For me, the decision comes down to waiting a few minutes to get a good seat or an hour or two to get a slightly better seat. We like eating at Brown Derby then meandering straight to our seats in the reserved section. It just works best for us.

Yes, we have sat directly in the front and center. I didn't find it much different either. The show is great no matter where you sit. I personally would rather spend my time enjoying the park and not having to sit and wait before the show starts. It's all personal opinion. For us it worked out well, because we did enter 5 minutes before the show and got great seats. If we did not have the reserved seating, we would have been standing for sure! Our family enjoyed H&V and thought the package was well worth it.

It's a fireworks and multi-media stage production wherein Mickey must slay a dragon attempting to steal our dreams (or imagination). The dragon is an amalgam of all the evil characters throughout Disney yore from the monster in Fantasia to Cruella. The action primarily takes place on a small island in the middle of a lake. Combine the fireworks of Illuminations, the music and fighting of Beauty and the Beast, some stunt work from Indiana Jones, add a healthy dose of animated clips from Disney cartoons projected onto water screens sprayed high into the air, and you come relatively close to the Fantasmic! experience. It's truly hard to explain but well worth watching, as it is arguably WDW's best show. Hope this explanation helps.

I Like the idea of the Fantamic Dining Package..but I don't fancy any of the restaurants involved.
The kids really want to try Sc-fi...so Thats were we are going..I suppose iam taking a chance..I hope it works out. We have an Adr for 5.30pm..straight after the parade. Fantasmic is at 8.30pm that night ...so Iam planning on us taking our seats at around 7.30pm. Hopefully it will work well. Iam glad to hear of others who have been able to find good seats an hour before.

Two years ago we went sans Fantasmic package and had no problem. . .then again it poured rain off and on during the day and was raining as we got to the stadium about an hour and a half early. We got seats right in the middle, front and center, and sat under rain gear and ponchos hoping the weather would clear since they don't make an announcement until right before show time whether the show will actually go forward. As good fortune would have it, the skies cleared about 15 minutes prior to show time, and we enjoyed a great spectacle.
