What is the easiest way to combine my points from two UYs, same resort?

We just recently added on at VGC and agreed to take a Feb UY because we had already waited 6+ months on the direct add-on list. We already had a Feb UY for BCV, so it seemed like a fine idea.

Here is my question: If I just want to use the whole bucket of VGC points every year and be allowed to bank them if necessary, is the best thing to do going to be to transfer from one UY to the other UY every year? I am thinking that then I can bank the points, if necessary, plus keep them all together to be combined.

Will this work the best? Otherwise, I am thinking that I will have to always book two nights here and three nights here and then link the reservations, plus I'd have extra dangling points hanging out in each account.

I am understanding you have two home resorts (VGC & BCV) with UY Feb.

I am not sure I am understanding your question.
You can only bank one year of points into the next UY. Are you thinking of combining all points from both VGC & BCV into one pot and banking them - no you can not.

Sorry if my question wasn't clear. I would like to transfer my Feb VGC (100 per year) into my June VGC UY (160 per year) so that I can use them together to make reservations at VGC. I am not going to move any of my BCV points.

So I would want to take my Feb 2014 UY VGC and transfer them to my June 2014 UY VGC. And I would consider doing this every year so that my VGC points would be able to be combined to book my vacations. Also, I believe that then I could bank the current UY points if necessary, into 2015, with both buckets retaining their original UY (Feb and June).

BCV will always remain in February and separate.

You have two options. You can transfer the VGC points from one use year to the other and then reserve using both sets of points together (but they still retain their own use year for purpose of determining whether you need to bank or borrow and by when you must bank).

Absent transfer, when you want ot use both sets of VGC points for one trip, you can use points from the June VGC use year to reserve some of the nights of the trip you want and use the February use year points to reserve the rest of the nights, and then request MS to link the two reservations.

That would be one way to do it and a couple of times I've transferred points between our 2 UY's but it really isn't my preference. When I have transferred it's just been the exact amount of points I needed to complete a single night or two and wasn't all points. Mostly I keep things separate and either use them as virtually separate memberships or else I book and link between the two. As far as dangling points that shouldn't really happen - or isn't any big thing. You would be doing the same whether it's one or two UY's and banking those points and using them first before current.

One thing about transferring is that you cannot borrow transferred points so you potentially are placing limitations on your points that otherwise would not be there if you left them in their respective UY's. But that may not be a concern for you.

I am thinking that if I only transfer current year points each year, then my borrowing would probably be done and all I would be thinking about would be using them for that UY or banking them into the next year.

I understand what you are saying. Like yesterday, I borrowed my Feb 2015 BCV points to book a 2014 reservation. If I had for some reason transferred those 2015 points to my other June 2015 UY, then they would be stuck in that account in the 2015 UY, or, they could be banked into 2016.

It does make sense for me to do a transfer of the amount of points I would be needing to finish a reservation. I'll see how it goes! Thanks :thumbsup2!

The other thing to consider is that once you transfer, you will not be able to use the transferred points online as they are a different UY and therefore won't show up once you transfer them. You would then have to wait to book when MS opens...to be honest! I'd probably wait to book what you can from each--which you could do at 11 months online and then transfer what is left to one contract so all your banked points remain in one UY.

We have traveled on nights from my two memberships and it wasn't a huge issue...it was like just one reservation when we got there.

Remember, too, that you cannot borrow transferred points. So if you have to transfer more than you have banked or current, you will need to make two separate reservations and link them.

Thanks for the good advice. I think I will try to make it work by only transferring if I need to. Otherwise, I will try the linking reservations. Alternatively, I could just keep them separate and use one account to go in odd years and one to go in even years...:cool1:.
