What is the earliest your BOY has potty trained?

DS6 - 21 months, trained in one week

18 months for #1, 2 for #2. We didn't try to potty train him, he just wanted to do it. My DD took forever, I seriously thought that she might wear diapers to high school. She's 4 now and no problems. It's best to let them do it when they are ready.

We trained my oldest in about 2 weeks when he was 27 months. My youngest is now 2.5 and we trained him when he was 26 months. With both boys we went cold turkey on the diapers. No pullups just the really thick cotton underwear you can get at Target. It is not nearly as messy as the thin underwear.

Before we started they had both been waking up dry in the morning and had been going to the bathroom before bath each night. The first couple of days can be very trying but it gets better and they can do it. I had motivation both times as the first time I was expecting DS2 and the second time DS2 had to be potty trained to go to preschool.

Ds8 started training at 22 months. He was completely trained by 26 months. He was just one of those fairly easy to train kids--lucky us.

Now with the age he's at, we have to deal with a whole lot of attitude and the "what do you mean the whole world doesn't revolve around me?" syndrome. Sometimes I long for when he was still in diapers!

Both my DS's were trained by 18 months. We didn't have pull ups back then either. Training pants were what we had to use.

This is exactly the case actually. My mother uses this line on me a lot too, but recently she started to admit to me that any one from that era who says that they had their children trained were simply taking their children to the potty every hour and sitting them there. Their kids were not asking to go or voluntarily going until well after 2 and probably 3. She also told me that it was also due to many more mothers staying home and being able to set their kids on the toilet every hour - I do not have that luxury.

Well, we've been doing it all day and the only time he went was when he wandered upstairs with his sister and I missed him. He came back down with wet undies and I said "Oh no, did you go peepee in your pants" and then screamed when I took them off. He seems to really like them but doesn't care if they're wet...he wants them on regardless! There goes the big boy pants theory. LOL He is currently napping and after nap we are going to sit on the potty because he normally goes right after waking up. I'm sure I will give up by the end of the day. Do you see the luxury I'm living in here? Do YOU?!? LOL

Our son trained at 27 months after a couple of weeks of working with him. He had been dry at night since he was about 8 months old, so we never had any bed wetting problems.

Our daughter trained right around her second birthday. I put panties on her, she wet herself and started crying. I told her not to worry, cleaned her up and put clean panties on her and that was it. Never had to do anything else to train her(smile).

It is warm out...maybe we'll go hang on the screened-in porch today with just our big boy undies on. I certainly won't force him...we'll just see what happens!

1--he knows when he needs to go and "whips it out"
2--he may be doing this because he doesn't like to feel wet!

FYI...I worked in day care for 8 years before having my own kids. From someone who's helped potty-train LOTS of kids, pull-ups are the worse invention ever! The give the child NO incentive to train by keeping them from feeling the wetness (the aversive stimulus) and giving them the reward (big boy pants)! Recipe for a non-trained kid! All of the kids who wore pull-ups took MUCH longer to train. Those who went the traditional route...panties or training pants with rubber pants over them....trained much faster

My DS will be starting soon. We won't be waiting for interest. I'm more of a traditionalist that training comes around this age (2) when they know what's going on and recognize the sensations. Some kids never get interested 'cause it's easier to wear diapers or pull-ups! Plus, he has to be "mostly" trained to start preschool in the fall Very few programs around here allow non-trained kids. DD had to be completely independent for hers...but it had a starting age of 2 1/2 rather than DS's classroom which starts at 2.

My earliest child the twin (boy) did it all himself. I hadn't even tried to potty train the twins. One day at 18 months, I saw him sitting on the toliet going "number two." I still put diapers on him for his nap and at night, and he pulled them off as soon as I left the room and slept barebottomed with no accidents. He got angry when I tried to use diapers on him. He also pulled a stepstool up to the toliet so he could stand to urinate. He was by far the easiest to potty-train of any of my kids.

My twins were 3. I did not sweat about it at all even though people like MIL and mom were always hounding me. I figured when it happens, it happens. They were not going to be in diapers forever so why rush it. When it did happen it took like a couple days MAX.

DS4 was almost completely trained at 22 months. It was his idea and he was a very willing participant. He mastered it in no time.

But....

then he decided the fun was over and reverted back. It wasn't until last summer when he was over 3 that I pushed him to finally get it over. No more pull ups (the worse thing, IMO). And, I started having him clean up his own messes. It didn't take long after that.
