I have been reading about the DVC cash discount but don't know what it is.
Can someone fill me in? I am paying cash at WL over Thanksgiving before moving to SSR for the other half. Paying full price so I was wondering if the DVC cash discount would work for those three days. How do I start that process? Thanks again. We are newbies and have lots of questions!

We have a cash night at SSR in August. I just asked MS if it was available for cash, she made the reservation for me, linked it to the nights we have on points, and gave me the total. We'll pay at check-in. I did have to secure it with a credit card. I think it is a 25% discount off the full price.

The discount is only on DVC rooms, so if you have a WL room you would need to try to switch it to WLV.

As the previous poster said, a 25% discount, which isn't always available, is for members staying at DVC resorts. These rooms must be booked through Member Services, not through Disney Reservations.

Where do you find the prices for the villas. I was wondering how much a 2 bedroom would be for a Friday night.

Discounted hotel rates for DVC cash accomodations are not posted - you have to call MS to ask what is available and if the discount is also available. They can quote you exactly what you want to know. You could, for planning purposes, look up room costs only through WDW's website and just subtract 25% off a given DVC resort. I would still recommend calling MS to confirm.

Can anyone tell me if DVC members receive a discount on the Disney Cruise if paying cash? If yes, about how much?

Many thanks!!!!

No cash discount on the cruises or any other Disney collection venue. DVC resorts only.

If you guys don't stop posting so many great tips, my "DVC Notes & Tips" file is going to fill up my hard drive! :rotfl2:

Subscribing as I'd like to know the answer to this as well ... ;)

Me too :)

Seriously, if you just want to subscribe without announcing it to everyone, just look under the second row of menus for Thread Tools (below Search and next to Search this Thread). I had to locate it myself and figured I might as well share it with everyone else who hasn't found it yet.

Back on discount topic, the Bounceback Offer might work out better IF you're already at a Disney resort or will be going soon, can plan far ahead, AND the dates work out.

DVC/Deluxe Villa resorts, 40% off for most Sunday-Thursday nights 1/6/08-2/2/08; most nights 2/24/08-2/28/08; 3/30/08-4/21/08; 8/10/08-9/27/08

You will want to call MS first to find out if they have any availability for your dates with the size unit that you want. It sounds like you are currently booked in the lodge part not the DVC part - the discount is only for the DVC units. And you can figure out the DVC price from the normal Disney website for everything except HHI, VB and AKV. You just plug in your dates and the resort and if there's any availability it will open up another screen where you can select the size of the unit. Once you find the per night price you can deduct 25% to come up with the DVC member price. The TRICK is whether or not MS has any of the units you want at the time you want it. For that answer you will have to call and ask what's available for your dates.

Why not AKV?

Why not AKV?

:confused3 The AKV villas have never been a DVC choice whenever I have tried to price them on the regular WDW website. My guess is that there are just not enough units finished yet for it to be offered. They're probably waiting for Kidani to open before they offer the DVC units to the general public.

AKV is on the Disney site now. I got a savannah view studio to come up earlier today. It doesn't come up through the Passholder site, but it will through the regular booking site. I have not been able to see any concierge villas at AKV, but I could pull up the one studio at rack rate.

I have a 1 BR Savanah view at AKV booked for cash for August 1 -3. With the 25% discount and tax - $378/night.

Just want to double check on this- by having the reservations linked, you do not have to change rooms, correct?
