I was looking at possibly staying at WH on our next trip (June 2014) since it will be a 2 week trip. What is the difference in the condo and the townhouse at WH? They also have single homes as well, correct? We would need 2-3 bedrooms...just trying to figure out what would be best. Thanks!

I have never stayed in the condos, but they are 2 and 3 BR.

I have stayed in the town homes 3 times. All are the same layout, all are 3BR/3BA. All the ones I have stayed in have a small screened in pool (maybe 15' x 15' - 4' deep?) All are two story. We enjoyed the town home. We liked that we could park in the driveway to our home.

We have stayed in a home too - it was 4BR/4BA, full private pool too. Also very nice.

Thanks! So with the condo you cant park at the door? Do the homes have hot tubs as well as pools? I saw a pic of the little pool (I assume at the townhome) and it was tiny. Dont know if that will work or not. Do the condo's have their own small pool? I appreciate the help:thumbsup2

The condos are like apartments one on top of the other with balconies, etc. Townhomes do not have a hot tub but the small pool can be heated. The larger homes have full-sized pools.

Windsor Hills has its own large pool and waterslide

I would say the townhouse would be better than the condo..no up and down flights of stairs and you have area for the kids to run around right there if you don't feel like going to the park/pool.

We are staying at WH in June at a house. I think the resort looks great, but it will be our first time staying so can't confirm it.

The other advantage of townhomes is that there is parking in your own driveway, which is right outside your door and they typically don't cost much more than a 3 BR condo. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the help. The townhome or single home definately sounds like the way I would want to go.
Does anyone have a link to a townhome or home that they have stayed at? There are so many options, as well as booking companies. Any suggestions for a good booking company?

Like I said before we haven't officially stayed yet, but booked b/c of the great decorations. For us we have 3 small kids and a hotel room wouldn't work unless we had a 2bedroom suite and I don't want to pay that kind of money. This way I figured we still have the "disney magic", but plenty of room to spread out. We are staying in the story time Kingdom.

We stayed in story time 2 for our 2011 trip. I too picked them based on the Disney decor :) The owners are nice and very prompt in answering any of my emails. But, and I'm not trying to scare you away, the place itself was just ok. The TH we stayed in was not kid friendly...glass dining table, glass coffee table, glass end tables, tons of breakable decor everywhere and wires to the tv, phone, router were hanging just low enough for my then 1 yr old to grab them daily. Pus the furniture in the twin Disney room was crap. The drawers either didn't open or wouldn't close all the way. Plus we had ants almost daily in he kitchen even after cleaning thoroughly every day. Granted I know no one goes to disney for the accommodations and really it's just a place to sleep!

Thanks for the heads up. I dont have any kids that are really young and needing a child safe place. My 5 yr old (youngest) will be 6 1/2 when we go and she is pretty careful. I do want to stay somewhere nice though. I will keep this in mind.

Thanks for the info. I am keeping my fingers crossed it is nice. I did think some of the furniture seemed too nice for a rental geared towards people who will be bringing kids, but for us that hopefully won't be an issue. I really researched rentals for months before I book and the vast majority of the reviews were good...even on here. I will say in all honesty almost every rental I looked into had more than one complaint about bugs on it...so I am thinking that is normal for Florida.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi ~ I saw that you are considering Windsor Hills for your June 2014 trip ~ we are, too! I'm excited and nervous about staying off site. Have you decided who you are going to rent through?? the more I look into it, the more confused I get!

Hey y'all,

We stayed in WH back in Sept/Oct 2011 and had a really nice time. We rented through VacationCentralFlorida (Dave Robinson). The prices they have are really good and if you go to the site and sign up for their newsletters they often run sales for Townhomes ($399) and Condos ($299) for a week! But, be warned, they send a ton of emails! So just be prepared to delete if you don't see the info you need.

We had a pleasant stay...a few minor issues, but I would rent from them again especially for the sale price. The "regular" prices are about the same as other th/condos in WH, so be on the lookout for the deals.

The townhome was very clean, nicely decorated and we loved parking right outside of our door. The layout was a queen bed in a downstairs bedroom, and two additional bedrooms upstairs. I think there were three bathrooms, washer and dryer, kitchen, living room and small splash pool. My kids were little and the splash pool worked out just fine for us. We were at the parks most of the day so we didn't use any of the community amenities. But, the resort itsels was really nice and it was gates so I felt safe.

The construction getting to/from the parks was a little annoying, but I suspect that's way over by now. Lots of chain restaurants and grocery stores nearby, so that is nice.

I'd recommend you check vrbo, HomeAway or flip key to weed the garden about who to rent from. Find an owner that has a lot of reviews and then once you've narrowed it down, post a note on the DisBoards to see if anyone here has experience with that particular owner/agency/management company.

I think space-wise the condos and townhomes are about the same. The differences would be the pool, parking and whether or not you want to be doing steps or want everyone on the same level.

We are doing a split stay (half on, half off-site) next time and while I love the space of an off-site rental, I do really miss the Disney feeling you have when staying at Disney. If only my budget could afford it! I feel blessed nevertheless to be able to take a vacation though, so I won't complain abou tthat!

Best of luck with your decision, please feel free to PM me if you have specific questions!

I agree about the confusion:) Glad we arent going till 2014! Lots of time to figure it out. We stayed at BC for our last trip this past Oct. I loved it, but in getting a quote for June 2014 for two weeks it is a bit pricey. They want $2088 plus they now have the $12/day parking and shuttle fee. That adds $168 (total of $2256), plus I will have to pay to park at the parks $196. I think I can do a better price for sure at WH. I just really like the location of BC. I have not decided who to rent through. I am pming people who have had a good experience posted to get ideas. Good luck to you too!

Dont be scared about going off site. We loved our BC experience (but it is on bodering WDW property so you were on their roadways all the time). I am a bit apprehensive about venturing truely "off" as I dont have a good grasp of where exactly everything is. I am considering WH because of all the posts saying it really is right outside the gates. Staying at BC gave us the option of more dining as well. We were really getting tired of Disney's food offerings (we mainly eat CS). It was nice to get out of the hustle of WDW and relax at a nice sit down place for the price of a WDW CS place.

Thanks for the info. I signed up for the vacationcentralflorida emails and you are right. I am getting one a day:rolleyes1 Thats a lot of email until our 2014 trip, but maybe one will nab us a great rate:cool1: I would love to get the $399/week for a townhome!!

I agree with you on the on site thing. I really love on site, but hate the lack of space. Especially since oldest dd is now married and we will have an extra person (plus possible grandma). We were lucky enough to stay at BLT a few years back on a 45% room only discount in a 1BR. It was wonderful. Still not as big as a condo/townhome/home, but I could work with that. They are just so expensive that it isnt always in our budget (especially for a 2 week trip).

I am also just happy to be able to do a WDW trip! I am really hoping things work out and we can keep the 2 weeker (a first for us)!

I will definately pm you if I come up with more questions that you could help me out with...Thanks!
