What is the difference between a Category 5 and Category 6 Stateroom (other than deck and a slight difference in price)? Every description I can find they are identical?

We stayed in a cat 5 and really liked it. It is on deck 7, where the cat 6's are on decks 5 or 6. If you don't mind being a deck or two lower, it's probably be worth it to take the cat 6. There isn't any differences between them.

You are right. THe only difference is the deck location. We have stayed in a 5 and 6 and they are the same. I like the cat 6 because they are in between the activity. Its a shorter walk to either Decks 9 and 10 (Outside) or down to Decks 3 and 4.( Restaurants, Theatre, Beat street) . Anyone that has cruised before can tell you about the wait for an elevator.

Location, location, location!
A lot of people like to be on higher decks, but I am just the opposite. I like to be as close to the water as possible, and deck 5 is the lowest deck with verandah staterooms. My favorite stateroom is a Cat. 6 (5650, in the far aft). Although it has a metal verandah as opposed to the plexiglass, the verandah is larger than the average due to the curve of the ship. You can keep the higher decks...deck 5 is the deck for me, and Cat. 6 rules!
