Anyone know? I always thought they were the same, their prices are usually the same, but just now when checking our rate for May there was $2 difference. If you look up the US fleet on the National site, standard isn't mentioned as an option. If I book (re-book) the $2 cheaper standard rental, am I likely to end up with a (4 door!) fullsize car?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've always wondered why they had both those categories anyway ...

I'm curious too. We are booked w/ Emerald Aisle, but could go full size reserve for the week for $5 more.

We are going to stay w/ the Aisle, with the hope to get something bigger, but if not no big deal. I did not figure that the trunk space, in a full size is that much bigger, and my kids are still young so they will be fine in an intermediate.

A standard car is a 2 door full size. It is on the full size aisle, it would be a monte carlo type car.

I called National and they agreed with the PP that it is a 2-door full-size. Of course, that doesn't explain why standard, just like full-size, says 2/4 dr in the description but I am glad to have an answer. Thanx!

It is odd, because very few mfgs. of cars make two door full size cars anymore.

The Chevy Monte Carlos are two door cars, that's what you usually get from National.

I am glad I wandered into this thread. I had a standard size car booked but didn't realize it was only two doors. We really prefer four doors, so I just left the National site and would you believe changing my standard size car to a full size car saved me $3.30. Thanks OP for starting this thread! :earsboy:

Glad you saved some money. Monte Carlos are the only full sized two door that I can think of.

An Impala is also a full size (4 door). My daughter rented a standard from National last year and selected a 4 door car from the full size lot and it was not a problem. Maybe some terminals have both standard and full size, but MCO only has full size. I wondered this too, but the website does say a 2/4 door car. :confused3
