What is the deal with head colds this year??

I normally get one bad cold every winter. It usually morphs into a sinus infection, I get antibiotics and then it goes away. One year it made its way into bronchitis. But, still. It's only once every winter.

This year I have had 3 colds since the end of October! I had my usual sinus infection. Then about 2 weeks ago, I battled a minor sore throat, which went away. Now my head is completely clogged and I feel warm and achy (yet, I'm still at work) (I know I should be home, but I have a project to do. My officemate isn't here, and I am sanitizing my hands).

Maybe I never recovered or my immune system is down. Is anyone else experiencing multiple colds this year?

It's just your year!

I go through this. I will go years with absolutely nothing or just one small cold, and then I will have one of those years where I seem like I'm getting everything. Either your immune systems is down now or there are things going around that you have no immunity to and you are picking them up.

It's been the same way in my house. I hardly ever get sick - but I've had 3 head colds so far this season. My husband has also, and my 5 year old seems to have a stuffy nose every couple of weeks. We were just commenting on this the other day.

Not to mention we all (except for my husband) got H1N1 at WDW. I hadn't had the flu in a long, long time.

Its my year too then. I had a cold/sinus infection in the fall that led to pneumonia (still trying to get rid of the cough) and now my head has been clogging back up again. My dad and sis are having the same exact problem. Ive been taking vitamins and an allergy med every single day plus Im using a humidifier at night in my bedroom. That has helped some but still i find myself blowing my nose like a trumpet about 60% of my day.

It must be our year too. So far, I've had 2 really bad colds, both accompanied by laryngitis (which I've only had two other times in all my 34 years.) I'm currently fighting a small round of what I affectionately refer to as "the crud". DS has had the H1N1 virus and a couple of cruddy head colds. DD has battled her usual asthma problems that come with the change to cooler weather. DH has been fine, but it is extremely rare for him to be ill. I was wondering if it was just a freak thing for us.

Ditto to everything you wrote.

I had the flu, still don't know what kind, back in late October. I have had a head cold that just won't go away. I wind up with bronchitis usually but this year it has led to my 3rd ear infection in less than 2 months. I think it's just a bad year.

Thanks for the empathy. I thought my immune system was going haywire, but I think there is one stubborn rhinovirus making the rounds this year.

My friend just called and she sounds exactly like me (we could barely hold a conversation). She had H1N1 and was knocked flat for about 10 days. She was taking it easy and now she has a cold. And her birthday is tomorrow!

Can't wait to buy my wonton soup later (I call it "Chinese Chicken Soup"!)

Same in our household. Sinus, Sinus, Sinus. I dislike that word. DH laughed at the grocery store over the weekend, said we should have invested in Kleenex when the market went down. It's the one thing I must restock each week. Summer can't come soon enough!

Same here. Usually just one to two head colds but I have been feeling sick on and off for about 2 months now. It comes and goes even with me taking my allergy meds every day.

I hope you feel better soon. Nothing like feeling yucky around the holidays.
