Just wondering...what is the 'Community Hall', not sure if that's the exact name, @ BWV? Is it just for DVC members? Never did a tour through DVC and don't see anything in my membership packet explaining it. Additionally, do any of the other Resorts have Community Halls? Thanks.
Community Hall is a comfortable room large enough for guests to gather for a group meeting, play games, watch a movie or just generally get together. The weekly updates used to be held there at the resort. The room is now used primarily for children's activites and craft programs.
OKW, SSR and HH also have a Community Hall for the same purposes. VWL, VB abd BCV do not have such a facility- but they do have comfortable areas for small groups to gather.
At BWV they have 2 video game stations. Not sure if they're sony or nintendo. They have a pp table, check out games, movies to check out and daily activities.
They also have an air hockey table a foosball table, popcorn and soda for sale. It's right at the quiet pool (Hey there's something that hasn't been debated in a while) which makes it a lot of fun for the kids to go into the CH for a while then back into the pool.
My kids love it and as a result always want to stay at the BWV's.
Must admit it, we've never been to the Boardwalk area - I did glance longingly @ it when we ate @ Yaughtsman this Feb LOL. Might be time for some grown up fun.
Is there a bike path @ BWV? Can you rent personal water craft @ BWV?
Thanks
The Boardwalk Bugle (newsletter included with your welcome packet when you check in to either the BWI or the BWV) says that Community Hall is for the guests of the BWI/BWV resorts. However, some BCV guests have reported that they have asked the CMs who staff it and have been allowed to join in the activities.
Unless it is very busy, I'm sure your family can take advantage of it. Just ask.
I think in theory that Community Hall is only meant for guests of the Boardwalk, but I've never seen anyone being asked to show proof of which resort they're staying at. As a DVC member whose home resort is the Boardwalk, I will say that it doesn't bother me if someone not staying at the Boardwalk visits Community Hall, as long as they don't "hog" the games, etc. Of course, I would be upset if a non-Disney resort guest was taking advantage of Community Hall, or any of the Boardwalk facilities to which they were not entitled (especially the pool, which can get quite crowded!).
I'll be there June 24th thru July 2nd -- I'll be the dad napping in the chair near the TV in Community Hall while my son plays the free video games and my daughter colors pictures of the Disney Princesses. Feel free to say hello!
Better yet, stop by Community Hall when they're running short of ping-pong balls and maybe you'll get to see how they retrieve the 'lost' balls.
