Not sure if this is the right forum, but since it's a budget question in the fact that I don't want to buy movies for the trip, I thought I'd ask here.

We are driving to Disney World and I'm hoping to rent a couple of movies from Redbox for my children for the ride there. I was wondering if anyone knew where the closest Redbox location near Disney would be to return them or even rent for the trip home.

I checked on the Redbox site, but since I'm not familiar with the area, I wasn't sure which was would be closest and easiest to get to.

Thanks

Huh. I didn't realize that you could take them back to a different machine.

You can just do a search on their website. redbox.com, it will have a list of locations with redboxes. :)

The WalMart in Kissimmee is probably closest.

Probably between this one, or the Walgreens on 192.
I used the locator with the disney Zip 32830, and Walgreens on 192 towards 27 came up first (address 8400 w irlo bronson memorial hwy) and the Walmart came up next, it looks about the same distance but whether you'd rather go one way or the other.

Personally, I'd probably go with that Walgreens since the Walmart is generally crowded, and there isn't very many people going to Walgreens for that Redbox, but shh, its our Redbox of choice too! (its on the outside of the building, so store hours wouldn't matter too)

but can't you just borrow movies from your library? If we reserve them ahead of time we can always get good titles.

we do that too but they would all be late by the time our vacation ended.

I almost got our kids a redbox movie on the way home from our recent trip when we stopped at a McD's in GA to use the restroom. Dh thought I was crazy :rotfl:

I thought about this too but I decided just to do Blockbuster online for a month. Redbox is a dollar a movie a day, so let's say you go to Disney for a week with three movies..that's $21 in Redbox fees. Blockbuster for a month is $16.99, and then you can use the service when you get home for 3 weeks, too!!

Oh, and like a pp, we got some library movies, too. I wanted a nice little stack to keep the kids quiet. :lmao:

Thanks so much for the help. I found both the Walmart and the Walgreens but wasn't sure which was better. The fact that the Walgreens is outside makes me want to go there so I don't have to mess with parking at Walmart.

Yes, you can rent movies at my library, but at my library they're due back within 48 hours and they'd be late by the time we got back and end up costing more in late fees than the Redbox rental.

The redbox will only be the $1 per movie because it will be returned within the 24 hour period. I won't keep it the whole time we're at Disney. They may even be returned on the way if we stop at a McD's that has a rental place.

Thanks again.

Remember the Redbox is by 9pm the following night, so if you rented in the morning - you'd technically have more then 24 hours of rental time too. I haven't seen any McDonalds here that have Redbox though, however they've been adding lately with Walgreens just getting them in the last few weeks, and Winn Dixie too. It use to just be Walmart around here. That Walgreens generally has a good selection though, even some blu-ray!

But you aren't renting the movies for a week necessarily (or at least that's not what the OP said they were doing). They were getting them for a day (or techinically two since they aren't due back till the following evening) for $1 per movie.

I've been to the Walgreens on 192 when my DD got sick during our last trip and we needed a pharmacy. It was an easy ride from the POP. Should be an easy place to drop off your movies. Happy movie watching!

If you can't find a Redbox at a convenient location, I would do a trial of Blockbuster through mail or Netflix. Both usually have a 2 week or 1 month free special and you could check out movies that way. The Blockbuster movies can be dropped off in person to expedite the return.

We have netflix, but also do redbox on new releases.

Thanks for asking this question -- I had the same idea yesterday for our trip in February and looked up locations but had no idea which would be best.

Thanks everyone for your help!
