We will be making 2 grocery stops, one on our way to Universal and one before we check into AKL... Where is the best place to go?

Depends on what you're buying! And your transport! If you're using a car service, they usually won't stop at the supercenters. If you have your own transportation, the world is your oyster!

The supercenters (Target and WalMart) tend to have somewhat lower overall prices, as do the shopping clubs (Costco & Sam's). They also tend to have large quantities!

Publix and Winn Dixie are two of the major supermarkets in the area. I believe they also have Albertson's now, although I didn't see one on my trips last year.

Avoid Goodings. It's in the Crossroads Center and is very expensive. Think independent grocery store/convenience store pricing and add a bit.

Some of their prices were comparable to our local independents, but many prices were double or more!

We will have our own car, so we won't be limited... I was planning on buying breakfast food, PBJ, bread, snacks, water... just the basics!

Go to Winn-Dixie to apply online for their reward card. They will then snail mail you a set of cards you can use at any of their stores.

At Publix you can pick up their card in person from a cashier and register it online at UPromise to earn a % back on certain items.

Walmart or Super Targer for sure in that area have the cheapest groceries and their generics are super cheap, .79 cent bread, 1.00 PB/J, etc...

The Albersons in off of exit 74A (Sand lake Road) in Dr. Phillips. Go away from I-Drive and it is on the right about 2 miles down Sand Lake Road. Same shoppng plaza as Mortons steeak.

Does anyone know directions to the closest walmart? We want to go straight from the airport to get diapers, water, ect. before we check in. Thanks.

Has anyone ever shipped a box of goodies to their resort before leaving home? I've read before that people sometimes do that. I was contemplating doing it so that we don't have to waste time stopping after leaving Orlando Airport. I just want to get right to Disney.

kimisabella,

You can probably look at the Walmart website to find the address, then use Mapquest to get directions from the airport.

I did this with Sams on our last visit and found a brand new one on 192 that was very convenient. I would have never gone around the corner and found it if I hadn't checked the web.

And the gas was dirt cheap at Sams. I can't remember the price, but it was like 20 cents cheaper than the stations near our resort.

Thanks for the info - I'll look the directions up on the website.

Yep! Started doing that when I traveled on business a great deal 20 years or so ago. I dislike a lot of luggage, so I ship some lighter stuff when I'm on an extended trip.

You will need:

Your name, confirmation number and arrival date
Hotel name
Complete hotel address
Hotel telephone number

If you use a cell phone, it's a good idea to have that in your return address. Just in case!

Some resorts may charge a handling fee.

Oh cool, thanks so much for the info.

I like that idea better of sending a small box ahead rather than wasting valuable vacation time shopping when we get there!
