What is the cheapest, easiest rent a car company out of MCO?

Planning a quick weekend spilt stay between Disney and Universal. I think renting a car may be a good idea. I want to drive from MCO to Universal. Spend the night do the one park, then drive to POP that evening.

Select ANY rental company that has either a 'quick checkout club' or rental kiosks or both - i.e. Alamo and National. Joining a club - generally free - means that you should be able (sometimes after the first rental transaction) be able to go directly to the garage, pick a car, and check out at a booth.

Rental kiosks allow you to skip the sometimes long lines, swipe a credit card, and complete your rental transaction with no high-pressure sales tactics like insurance or upgrades.

We've used the Alamo kiosk on previous trips, but are now members of National's Emerald Club which is even better. Once you are a member you collect your luggage, go to the National Emerald Aisle row in the parking garage and pick a car from that row (you have to reserve a mid-size) and just head to the check-out booth bypassing any counters or kiosk. I believe Mousesavers.com has a link for a free National Emerald Club membership.

I've found Alamo to be pretty easy to deal with lately. They do have a club (***********), but you don't have to join it to use the kiosks. What you do is make your reservation online, then before you go, click on the 'Save time' link on your reservation and you can enter drivers license info and all that. When you get to MCO, you go up to a kiosk, swipe a credit card and they'll find your reservation. You go thru a bunch of screens, then it spits out a contract and you head out to the garage, pick whichever car you like from what's available for your car class and head out. National and the Emerald Club, mentioned by an earlier poster, are the same company...National tends to cater more to businesses and is usually a little more expensive, but sometimes they have good deals.

Another thing that is good about dealing with Alamo/National is that, if it makes sense for your trip, you can pick up the car at MCO and return it to a couple places on Disney property (Dolphin and Car Care Center)...that way you don't have to keep it for your entire trip if you don't need it...and in your case you could take DME to return to MCO, since you'll be at POP.
