We were thinking about letting DS buy a souvenier for each kiddo and the teacher in his class at school. He will be missing 4 days of school for us to go....I know, I know...bad Mom but hey this will be a ONCE IN A LIFETIME deal for us probably. Anyways, do they have anything that is like 1-2 dollars and what would it be?

TIA! :earboy2: :earboy2:

Great idea!!!! I have already started saving my pre 1982 pennies just for this.

Thanks for reminding me!!

Through the years, we've done varying "school" gifts...

Free: Park Maps for each child, Mickey Sticker (usually can get at World of Disney) and small yellow Disney bags (ask at store) Buy: Pack of pencils (usually 5 to a pack) for around $5 or less...that gives a little grab bag of gifts. We've added things like a pressed penny (51 cents) or a Mickey lollipop (about a buck). It's cute - and it's about $1.00 to $1.51 to $2 per kid.

There are a lot of cool things to look at - especially at Downtown Disney. If you've got a car with you, another great place to look at is the Disney outlet store. You can get some good things cheap there.

I read somewhere not sure if it was here or on allears that they are going to have a mickey bracelet like the lance armstrong yellow bracelets for 2.00. I will be getting those for my boys when we go in june.

I used to think this was a great idea (bringing back a little souvenier for the classmates) until one of my son's classmate's mother (got that?) talked to me about it one year. She said that she appreciated us thinking of the class, but that they felt that it made things harder for her son, who had never been to WDW, because they simply could not afford to go on vacation-period.

Since then, our school has asked that if you wish to have your child bring something back after a trip then you can do one of 2 things:
1-bring back something to be used in the classroom-game, educational toy or age-appropriate book
2-bring in a treat either the day before they leave or the day or 2 after they come back (clearing it with the teacher first)

I had not thought of it from the other kids' perspective but I do see now that many of them either don't care that you went because they didn't, or would rather have a new book to read in class or toy to play with during free/recess time.

Just my .02!

We always bring back a couple of bags of the Mickey shaped pretzels for her to hand out during snacktime. They love it. We will be going next week, and the kids that were in her class last year already asked her if she can bring them back!

Bags of pretzels I think are .99 cents
Chocolate suckers (these look like giant coins with a stick on them) .95 cents each

How many kids are in the class? I have a bunch of mickey head straws you can have.

We brought back the Mickey shaped pretzels one year and the Mickey shaped cheese crackers, like goldfish, the next. The students and teachers loved them. We also let DD take pictures of the trip and show them to her friends.

A disney dollar from the Happiest Celebration on Earth. Cost - $1 per person.

I agree with this. I understand the sentiment behind getting little gifts for classmates, but I think, to many of the students, it may feel like the other child is saying, "Look where I went and you did not." This is especially the case if one child got to have a week or so off from school while the rest of the class did not. I really do not like it when my child gets a souvenir from classmates and I do not buy souvenirs for classmates.

Of course, I would not hesitate to get a small present for a good friend to be presented outside of school.

The point of not wanting to cause any hurt feelings you are making makes a lot of sense!! I never would have thought something as innocent as offering a small gift can cause hurt. Very good point!

Some of the cheapest Disney souvenirs I've found are at K-Mart on Turkey Lake Road :goodvibes

Free...the Mickey Stickers cast members give you EVERYWHERE...I'm sure they'd be happy to give you enough for a class!!

Nothing better than "FREE"~

We got those plastic mickey head straws from the food court, i think they were around .50 cents.
